I have owned and driven 480s for the past 15 years. My current car is a K Reg 2.0I ES module and now sadly has a Information Centre problem (the Display Electronic Monitoring Unit doesn't work)Having investigated a replacement part on the Internet I am advised by the Parts Dealer that they have a Spare available but there is some confusion as to whether it is sutable for my car. They have been given me a number - K10753 - which they inform is the part I need and indeed this number is shown on my unit just below the Speedometer BUT the Dealer tells me that that this unit is used on cars fitted with an AIRBAG faclity which mine is NOT. Can anyone please advise me whether the part offerde is interchangeable with the decfective unit in my car and if not what part I should be looking for. Thank You Everyone

Hi there Can anyone help? My dad (now 80) has a Volvo 480 Turbo - red - F registered. It's his pride and joy - only drives short distances to the shops. He's decided to sell due to his age but doesn't know where to sell it or what it's worth. It's a lovely car, engine very quiet, leather upholstery and low mileage. Always been garage maintained -full MOT and taxed.Does anyone know anyone that may be interested? Thanks

Please could someone help me as I need a fix quickly. I have a 2.0 GT Volvo and when i brake from either third or fourth gear and slowly come to a stop the revs die right down to 200 and then fluctuate up and down before finally stopping sometimes it evens stalls. just wonder whether this could be related to the dizzie cap or whether it is more serious. it has just had new plugs and leads in the hope that would fix it but ti has not. please contact me as soon as anyone has an idea. thank you so much. cheers

Dear Volvo 480 club, First I would like to thank you for making the various service and parts documents available for other 480 users. I downloaded them with grat gratitude. I only couldn't find the complete service manual, only chapters on body work and airconditioning. Do you have the other sections also available? Thanx for your help so far Fred Hendriks A newly 480 owner

Hi Rick, Basically the forum and the members pages arent linked! You need a car to register on this side of the site (and to access the Car of the month and the webshop etc and specification guides) but the forum can be registered by all. All you need to do is click forum at the top of the page, and then click register. Follow the instructions and bobs your uncle, Fannys your aunt your registered and able to post and some very kind fellows will most certainly reply and give advice where to find a peach! And then when you do get a car you can join the clubsite here and view the precious accessories catalog and other such items of mirth and wonderment ;) Take it easy mate, Rob AKA Guitarcarfanatic P.S- Very tidy looking GT on autotrader BTW. A complete steal at £495 with a full months MOT!

Hi. I'm looking for a decent late model 2.0L 480 and hoped to join the forum to get info and advice before buying one. Unfortunately that seems to be impossible as the registration form requires details of your current 480. Do you deliberately exclude people who don't have one already or is this just a massive oversight on the part of the web master? For instance, if I wanted to buy one of the cars advertised in the forum for sale section, how would I do this without already owning one? Been reading the forums and it's only fuelled my desire to buy one even more so I'm really disappointed that I can't join until I do.

I desperately need a central electric module for a 1989 480 es. I have one from a 1994 es but it looks quite different so I have my doubts as to whether or not it'll work! The car would be perfect if I can just get that part, its only done 35,550 genuine miles!! Please help if you can & don't hesitate to contact me (redhotchilitomo@yahoo.co.uk)

i have this volvo 480 es which has been giving me some problems lately and the island i live in doesn't have a volvo dealer with certified volvo mechanics. the car is a 1993 model which i bought from a british national living in saintlucia in 2003. the problem that i am hainv is that the plugs seem to get wet with oil after being driven for around two weeks. and also there is a problem with the switch for the headlights. i am searching for any information which can help me continue to enjoy the pleasures that my volvo offers me.r

Recently on E-bay looking at 480 celeb for sale and read a question from Steve of your club requesting info on the 480 'Celeb' No. In order you guys can estimate how many are left on the road. I currently have No. 342 on my drive which is running well. Unfortunately a previous one I owned was written off very badly in an accident (although passengers escaped almost unharmed !!)and has been scrapped, not sure of the number, had no badge when purchased though I could probably pass on chasis number etc from old documents, reg was N447 BYB. I aslo have another 'celeb' at a yard, it needs about £500 spent to pass MOT but runs fine, reg N198 OJU, anyone interested in providing a caring home ?

I recently move to uk , and now I was thinking to buy a car. The 480 was one of the first car that I drove (only if for a night, borrowed from a friend). My budget is limited, so I thinking between a seicento and this art of stile car it's natural. I found one 1.7 turbo with 70,000miles on the clok, but I would be gratefull to anyone who might be able to give me some tips, and especially a review of the car. Many thanks in advance Alberto

There are a few things that I would prefer to change and that is the colour. If I were to have it repainted how much would that cost? Plus does anyone know how to tighten the handbrake as its really loose? Ok I also wanted to say that this is an awesome site that my brother emailed me so hats off to you guys!

It appears my e-mail addresses are banned from entering your Forum & therefor I am unable to participate could you please put this situation right. I would like to ask volvo members if any of them might have the 440/480 Air conditioning Service Manual (In English) That is the same one which appears in your download section (in Dutch)I have searched the web for this Manual (Without success) I'm sure it would be extremely usefull to many 480 owners in English. Love my 480, have had it for a couple of years now with relatively few problems. One thing is the boot door wont stay up, its driving me nuts, anyone know if its expensive to repair?

What an ace site! I have finally revisited the one car I never tired of driving! I had a 1990 Black 480Turbo which never failed me. Having been forced to sell her for family reasons I needed now to find a safe car for my yourng children to ride in and something for me to have my mid life crisis! I now own a Dark Grey 480 Celebration which needs a couple of small jobs doing on it, otherwise it is in excellent condition. The result? I haven't stopped smiling yet!! I will get my details and join the rset of you club members shortly. Take care.

Ild just like to say hi there to all u wedge fans, ive recently, well say resently its been about 2 years now, finally finished my final my 480 body kit, my friend asked me if i was interested in building 1 as no1 else outthere does, so i jumped at the chance, we spent ours making plugs molds, messing with filler, laminating the list of dirty jobs was endless, but just 2 weeks ago we cracked our first bumper out,and fited it to my car...... any way this means naw there is a customised bodykit for a 48,its a bit mean looking with lots ov personality and im shore it will turn heads, so if there is any1 outthere interested in purchasing 1, then myself and my friend will be happy to ablidge, for more info email me at dean480@hotmail.co.uk or lwhiteland@fsmail.net thank you

Congratulations for the excelent site. I,m owner of a 91 440 turbo. I think its a fairly nice car with full extras and a real powerful engine. Altough, I'd wish the dashboard (almost the same of 480?) was a bit resistant. That's a shame, because when I go in a bumpy road the plastic makes a sinphony of noises. Is there anyone who can give me ideas on how to solve this problem? Many thanks in advance for your kind help and if anyone knows of any 91 model reparation manual, pls let me know. Best regards Henrique Gomes.

Hulp gezocht. Tel. +31 (0) 651519472

Well where to start.I bought a 480 ES on ebay about 3 months ago becaues it was a black one and a 1990 when i went to collect it i was mortified because it was grey (he borrowed someone else,s photo,s )but anyway i grew to like it and all it needs are the front wheel bearings and a couple of tyres and its a fairly nice car apart from the rear wheel arches that could do with a proper repair . Then i decided to buy a rough one for spares as they are not easy to locate and so one came up on ebay with no description and i bought it for £32 and went to collect it from Bristol and would you believe it is a 1992 BLACK es it has a few problems and has been neglected for a while but nothing i cant rectify so now i need another spares car as i need both window mechanism,s plus a few bits of trim etc and thats it my black beauty will soon be on the road in all its glory

Hello one and all, Great website! I applied to join a few months ago but haven't heard anything. I'm the proud owner of a '94 2.0 ES, and somone managed to drive into the side of me recently. It's a write off even though it's only a front passenger wing / light / tracking & steering. I'm going to fix it myself - does anyone know where I could get a (pref Paris blue) front passenger wing near Glasgow? I know there's the net, but I assume it would be cheaper to do it locally. Thanks, Martin

Hi I want a volvo 480 but I have a disability called Ehlers Danlos Syndtome that basically affects my muscles joints and ligaments and meens that I can only drive an auto as these seem to be so few and far between and I really want a Turbo (our other car is a volvo 850 T5 Manual) which I can not drive, does anyone know if I buy a manual car can u have an auto box put in it? I would be looking at buying a 94 or 95 model. Also does anyone know if the 2.0 GT model or if the Turbo model was available with an auto box? Many thanks in advance for your help and if anyone knows of any 94/95 auto models available for sale at a reasonable price could they please let me know and how much should I pay for a reasonable GT/Turbo or Celebration model? Kind regards Joanna Dalton

Just bought my First 480, my parent's (who are wonderful)have borrowed or lent or lended me funds (never have grasped which word to use)even though I am 35 yrs old. The car is pretty mint. There are a few signs of wear and tear but I can see to those myself. My main concern is the info centre only worked for a couple of hours and now does not. I need to know how to repair this. I have checked the connection to the switch on the dashboard and that is fine. All the leads connecting to the alternator on the engine also seem to be secure. It stopped working and then worked again and then did not work again. Whay is that a symtom of? If you know then please tell me and I will reapir it. There is a little bit of rust on each rear wheel arch which I will also get repaird and made good. The car is a 1989 white 480ES and is fitted with a CD Player and even has a spare alloy well as the space saver tyre. I have driven the car today for a few hours and it's quick and it's racey and I like it. It is pretty amazing the way the car stick's to the road and it took me by supprise at one point. Any advise on this model and my Info Centre problem would be appreciated. Cheers. Alan.
