cracked instrument casing problem solved..

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

cracked instrument casing problem solved..

Post by rhigga » Fri Apr 08, 2016 4:30 pm

There i was cleaning the dash when that annoying corner crack completely broke free....

After a great deal of thought, i concluded the only way to fix the problem was to introduce a faux leather trim to hide it altogether..
So I sent off for some 20mm leather tape and adhered some very strong 19mm double sided adhesive tape to back....seems to have worked. :hopping:

That's a neat solution a sour surround is getting the same way, but also there are precious few fixings left, most are stripped or the plastic around them has fallen apart with age :-(

any particular web-site for the sticky/fake leather stuff, & which sticky tape, as loads out there!

Sure,The faux leather was from eBay item number:261638722332 and the double sided tape was from B & Q. There are 2 types, 1 Blue and 1 Red,the red being the extra strong one.

The only fly in the ointment is the tape is white so i had to use a black ink marker just on the edges while still rolled up before applying and thats it....good luck..
