just had the car back to mot station, after removing and stripping/oiling the caliper...its moves plenty and freely
its failed again....theres no effort at all on the rear drivers side!!
theres plenty of meat on the pads, but they look a little shiney....mirrored maybe?
am thinking of roughing the disc up with the grinder to maybe attract a little more friction....aynone done this and found it works?
pads i think are fuct.......dont suppose i would get away with grinding them until i can get new ones?
thoughts please?

foot and hand brake no effort on the fail sheet.
i cant get to the adjuster, as the dust cap is pretty much welded in with corrosion.....keep sparying with wd40, and having a go, but have snapped two allen keys so far!!
new pads ordered today anyway.....the discs on the S are on pretty good nick, so ive had em off, ground em a bit, and put them on.....will see if it makes a difference!
at least my mate aint charging me a retest fee until its fixed!!

ive had this problem in the past, take a torx bit slightly larger than the allen key hole. hammer it in with a big hammer and use a ratchet to take off the dust cap, sounds like overkill but its much needed!as the dust cap is pretty much welded in with corrosion
when you buy new ones, cheapish from volvo, put plenty copper grease on the threads to avoid a repeat performance!

hi gaz....yeah the idea with the file....ive basically roughed the surface of the disc with my grinder.....im a lazy bastard.
pads wise...the ones in are soooo shiney, i could use em as mirrors......ive ordered new pads now...hopefully wil sort it all out.
