The standard solid disk for the 480 is fine for lght use but struggles under pressure, fades badly. For £50 you can get these ATE power disks and may or may not help the situation. From what i have read from the net its all about fitting the correct pad to a disk. So you will only notice a difference with these disks if you use a good pad, from a BMW forum they were using these disk with a PF90 pad (not sure what it is) but they said from experince its a good combo, also expect to get about 40K from a set of pads and double that for the disks. Heavier cars i guess etc etc.

Its cheap experiment i guess.

vented??

Post by felyx » Fri Mar 11, 2005 4:24 pm

europarts do vented aswell but i did'nt ask the price i'd guess at about £25 each plus VAT. but yep it's alot to do with pads you can also get some goodrich hoses for the brake lines made up for about £30, which i will be doing at some time.

from what i understand with the pads the meaner they are at braking the quicker thay will wear, its pretty much since they stopped using asbestos that comprimise time started.

Ferrodo are quite good though hard to find.

The ferodo pads got shredded on my grooved discs- less than 15k miles!

The volvo ones i have now seem to stop better, and have lasted longer- reckon i got another 2-3k out of them yet.
