Just been into the local motor shop to order new rear disks and was asked do I need them plus the hub or minus the hub. Just checked the Haynes manual and it mentions the rear disk and hub assembly but does not state whether they can be separated. It only mentions the removal of the bearing from the hub/disk assembly.
What I need to know is do I need the hub as well as the disk. Replys before 4pm BST would be appreaciated as I need to to order the parts so that they are here for the weekend for fitting.

much appreciated

Seems strange that you'd need to replace the hub as well. Well if they sell the hub and the disc seperately then they must seperate. Cant immaging the rears being much different to fronts, but cant say for sure as I haven't done my rear disks yet, only pads.

Think you'll find that some versions/years the discs are integral with the hubs, others not. I'm sure mine (1990) are seperate. Try ringing your Volvo agent; they will know.
Cheers, Chris.

lol, yes, some are "with hub" and some aren't. MY 94 is without hub. I rang back three times to change my mind, in the end he gave me some dimensions which decided it, and i'd got it right. Nobody seesm to know which as which, i don't think its as straight forward as year.
To be honest though, i think its more likely you'll have separate, go with that, and if i'm wrong you can hunt me down like a dog.

the (mostly) earlier ones had the hubs in one piece with the rear discs. the easiest way to tell is to take your rear wheel off. if there is a small screw holding the disc on, you have the "no hubs" type.
my 89 F is without hubs.

Any easy way of knowing if they with or without hub other than stripping the rear wheel. (Kind of busy at the moment with party for my youngest.) The only thing I remember about the rear discs from when we bled the rear brakes and checked the adjustment of calipers and handbrake is that the discs are appear to be held on with just one countersunk screw as per the front discs and looks exactly the same as the from disc set up.
Catrgroom put me on to gsfcarparts earlier today and the strange thing is that discs with hubs are £10 plus vat and the discs only are £17.50 plus vat. Seems strange that you get more for less. A lot less than the local shop even with the drive down to Hitchin, who were quoting 17.50 for the disc only and 37 for the disc with hub

thats what i was talking about.
If this is the case, you have the without hubs discs.

Thanks Chris, I must a have been writing my post as you posted yours. The single screw holding the disc as per the front set is why I had origionally assumed that I would only need the disc and blissfully unaware that some even came with a hub.
