Adding photos
There are a couple of threads I want to add photos to, but cannot work out how. Can someone please help me?
There is an 'Insert image' button above, but this just puts some square brackets with 'img' in, into the post.
The photos I have are on my pc in JPG format. Is this the problem? How do I change it if so?

Re: Adding photos
Jpg are fine, but the photos have to be hosted somewhere. What you put on the forum is the link.

Re: Adding photos
Hi Sylvia
Sort of makes sense. Presumably I cannot 'host' on my pc, and the photos have to be on a cloud or something.
I have seen posts with links in them, but I have also seen posts with the photos embedded in the text. This seems to be a simpler way of doing it. Is it simply a matter of drafting the whole post including photos in a Word document and then using copy/paste into the forum? I often draft in Word first anyway.
I'm sure I'm not he only one who isn't savvie enough to work it out, so it would help others too.
Thanks - Dave

Re: Adding photos
Hi Dave,
This is a pretty old forum dating back to the early days of the internet, so adding photos unfortunately isn't as straight forward as Facebook!
What you need is to upload your photos to a 3rd party image hosting site. I've always used imgbb.com, but I believe there are better sites available.
Once your images are uploaded to said site, you need to get the 'BBcode' link that is automatically generated for each photo you upload.
Paste the link into your message/post and the image should magically appear!

Re: Adding photos
Discussed here when photobucket went belly up years ago.
I use Google photos for now - It's not simple, but once you get the hang of it, it's ok.

Re: Adding photos
Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately, this sounds like the point I give up. Life's too short! Are there any moves within the club to update the website to make such things more straight forward? I know it wouldn't be easy, I've seen other forums go through agony to update the website.
It looks like the photobucket debacle was 7 years ago, which probably explains the number of supposed images on old threads which don't link to anything. Unfortunately, I don't subscribe to any of the social networks, and don't take enough photos to justify putting them anywhere other than on my pc. The pc is at least 10 years old, my phone 5 years old (3G!), and I'm afraid I'm a bit of a dinosaur! At least I don't suffer a constant bombardment of unsolicited rubbish, and noone is interested in hacking anything so old!
I am going to add a 'How To' article, which will hopefully be useful. It will be somewhat verbose as there won't be any photos. I can always print and post some, if anyone needs them!
