Mobile Mechanics - SE London

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Mobile Mechanics - SE London

Post by SW480 » Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:47 pm

Hi everyone , any recommendations on a mobile mechanic in south east London or Kent , want to see if anyone can get my 480 going as Ive given up now and want to see it either start once again and be on the road or it will be sold or scrapped (Hopefully Not)

sure Its something simple but at a loss now dont want to spend a fortune but willing to see if someone can get it going , think its an electrical fault.

Thanks

I might be able to help, I’m just coming back to these cars after being away for long while. Volvo trained Technician.
Do something completely different now but still know some bits on these models.
Can I ask what have you changed so far and can you explain the faults a bit more.

Hi Wade1981

Thanks for your response and welcome to the forum , I'm always asking questions rather than helping out but the people on this great forum are very helpful !

To answer your questions I have not changed much apart from the crank sensor as i thought this was the issue, MAF sensors been changed to.

The car just died midway through me driving it and i coasted to a stop near the ASDA in Leyton if you know it as my (wood) work shop was near there at the time ( about a year ago now) and been sat up ever since was running great till then. I have changed fuel pump its turning over over and i can smell fuel to the engine so don't think thats the issue either.

I have got a few more things to run through today and check but little bit lost at this stage. where do you live in East London?

If you have a fully charged battery I could pop down next week and have a look.(work hours permitting)

I’m 3 miles away from Leyton

PM me today will call you to arrange a day/time if that suits.
