Another dreamer?

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

Another dreamer?

Seems a bit low? Also despise that number plate :badmood:

Think the estimate is a bit high for something that doesn't look perfect - what do you all think?

"blisteringly quick" - I know turbos can shift, but really??!!

That's had some serious bashing about the front end. The number plate is horrible as you say Ben, plus of course it is missing its holder. The grille/fog-light surround looks to be broken and I suspect the bumper is off its side mounting at least on the driver's side.

That's just for starters...

So yes, another dreamer.

BTW, that dodgy looking white one has lost a couple more thousand pounds off its asking price I see - a mere £4.5K now

Some more pics.

Dodgy numberplate (although weirdly think it suits the styling of the car!), exhaust and head unit; no floor mats, little red flashing light on the dashboard is missing, aftermarket speakers (no bad thing) but they are showing through the speaker grills and has paint peeling from the front left on the bumper. Not to mention, it's dirty!

I'll let Jeff destroy the rest. Looks like a grubby example which is a shame because I don't think any of us are adverse to £5k for a lovely example, it's just a shame that the only cars above £2k are traders chancing it.

Yes I certainly think this car is 'ropey' as you said let Jeff unload a broadside into it and excommunicate the owner, when will people get the message?

That has surfaced for sale in the last few years. I think it was over N. Ireland and had been sitting for many years. I don't know of it was good storage or bad. Someone's obviously done some work for an MOT. I'll presume the bare minimum as they haven't mentioned any of it in the listing.

where to start.......

No MOT currently - there's your starting point for a 5k car....

"*Rare manual gearbox model – one of a believed 12 survivors"
" the typically solid Volvo bodywork is said to be very good"

Missing front spoiler
missing drivers tipping Seat knob
cracked seat belt button
NSR seat not fitted correctly
Heater buttons....
Centre guages not sitting correctly
Alarm LED missing
NSR arch looks to be full of filler

If that's 5k, then Henry's going in for 12k!

Have had an interesting call with Bonhams....

The car is currently being worked on, and will have an MOT before the sale. Apparently it's had a new* subframe fitted and there's just some "silly little bits" to be addressed....

I can book in to view the car up to 3 days before the auction (so 23/24/25th)....

That's a very comprehensively done in bank balance for whoever is trying to get it ready for sale, if they have any respect for selling a decent car.

I'd be interested where he purchased his new subframe

The 12 remaining statement isn't that far off if you trust "how many left.co.uk". Turbo, manual, non-sunroof... 11 only taxed for first quarter 2020. Many are SORN i'm sure, but there is no denying its rarity in 2020.

Interesting the repeated stabs at an Mot!

If that makes 5-7k in a no reserve auction i'll eat my hat - but who am I to argue with Bonhams of all people. Lets hope it does!

maybe 'new to car'?
it is actually possible, just, with engine and running gear / front suspension left 'in-situ'

biggest problem is getting the subframe over the lambda sensor fitting!!

Yes, "new" subframe made me chortle too.....

I also pointed out that how many left's figures can only represent taxed or untaxed vehicles, and that thanks to the current pandemic, many owners (myself included) have Sorn'ed cars that would have normally been taxed.

The other curious thing about the MOT stabs, is that the second attempt was a different station, with clearly no attempt made at repairing some of the original faults! Clearly they knew better than the man from the ministry eh? Either that or they forget that since computerising the system, the tester can easily see previous MOT's so has a starting point for looking for stuff.

Its a another 200 quid project car in my eyes

This made £930 in an open auction remember... no MoT, a non-driver and all sorts of un-told rust issues!
