Starting, & Running, Problems

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Starting, & Running, Problems

Post by yorkievolvo » Sun Jun 09, 2019 12:06 am

Greetings Everybody,
Still having problems with my '92, 480 turbo.
Poor starting - have to catch on the accelerator and hold until the engine warms up a little.
Then low (400/600) slow-running revs.
High fuel consumption when driving.
Can anybody recommend a garage with a 480 savvi mechanic (preferably within 50/60 miles of the Humber bridge)?
Thanks.

Not sure it quite meets your distance limits but Hutton Brothers in Shipton by Beningbrough would be my recommendation.

Otherwise, and I know it would be dearer, but the master technician (Howard) at Ray Chapman York knows his 480s and has helped me several times over the years. If you end up going down that route make sure you speak to Nigel on service, and explain David Walker recommended them and specifically Howard, and hopefully they could do something for you.

Good luck!

David

Thanks for the info, David.

David,
don't worry about phone numbers.
Didn't realise it was so easy to find garages on the 'net.
Thanks again.
