Pub details : The Elms, St John's Business Park, Lutterworth LE17 4HB
damn, The Elms have just replied to me to say they open at 11am - strange time to start doing breakfasts ! Anyway, we'll be in the pub from 11.
We will be in 2 of our 480s, hopefully my daughter in law will be with us in another of our 480s and if my son gets home from a business trip to Germany the day after Brexit, he'll be there in a V60.

Just been back on the volvo600 website and they have posted an amendment to say that dogs will NOT be allowed on site (issues with insurance).
I suggest that everyone planning to come checks the website nearer the time to see if anything else has changed.
They have also now clarified that the parade will be in the order of arrival at the gate, so if we want to have our 480s together, we need to arrive together and all have our paperwork printed out with the required sheet displayed on the inside of the windscreen.
We will be at the Travelodge in Lutterworth LE17 4HB which is only 15 mins away, carpark should be pretty empty by mid morning. Anyone wanting to join us there very welcome - we plan to leave about 11.30. Any cars not in Bruntingthorpe by 2pm risk not getting in at all.

It would be nice to get a group of 480's together, even if its after he actual attempt. I suppose getting us to parade together is down to working out a meeting point before the start.

oo, not long now !! I've just been told that the XC90 owners are planning to park their cars all together after the parade for photos - excellent idea !! I can't find anyway to contact the organisers to find out if there are any plans to designate areas for each model/series to gather but it would be good if we could get all the 480s together afterwards.

My son and I are doing this in the V40 as I don't collect the 480 until 6th April :( He LOVES a good world record so to be a part of one will be a story he can tell his friends!
....We'll stay back and just admire the 480s from afar!

Just a note: This is Mother's Day, in case any of you had plans you'd 'accidentally' forgotten about with your dear old ma and the clocks change on this morning too (they go forward an hour). :)

New info on the Volvo600 website is that the attempt ends at 4.20, we stay with our cars until 4.30 for official photos, then we have to be offsite by 5pm so it doesn't look as though there will be time for group 480 photos afterwards.
We can socialise up to 2.30, so if we can all aim to get there as soon after 12 as possible, we could get photos before. However, we won't be able to park the 480s together unless we all arrive together as we will be assigned to a safety car on arrival and told where to park.
Sooo, if we want a 480 convoy and photos together, we all need to meet up somewhere first, and I still think the Travelodge / Elms carpark is going to be the best place - LE17 4HB.
DON'T FORGET TO PUT YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD ONE HOUR SATURDAY NIGHT
Also best to print off the forms before you go from the Volvo 600 website.

Well there were over 1200 cars there, far more than the organisers were expecting, so it was a bit chaotic. Don't know if we needed to keep the parade moving, if so we failed cos it all ground to a halt several times so we'll have to wait and see. We enjoyed the day though, met a few old friends and chatted to some previously unknown 480 drivers, plus a young man who was desperate to buy Lily - I came home with his contact details having been assured he didn't care how long he had to wait. hmm, maybe when I'm in my coffin, talking of which, there was a Volvo hearse in the Travelodge car park, complete with coffin in which the owner spent the night....
I'm pleased to say that Celebration 1 of 480 was there, having only just passed its MoT in time after a lot of work on the damaged back end - well done to Tom & Elliott for saving it, and making such a lovely job of it. Just needs a front number plate mount, so the plate can go in the middle instead of being stuck on to one side where the surface is flat. Have to have a chat to Wayne about reproducing them, as well as pollen filter housings.
Spotted in the Travelodge carpark - a nice bronze J reg turbo

and another one from Belgium

a black J reg turbo had arrived by Sunday morning

Here's the car at the front of the parade - not quite a 480, but I couldn't resist

Got home from Bruntingthorpe at 12:30.
Car started misfiring on the A15, near Lincoln, and came to a final halt just outside Scampton at 19:15.
RAC had no mechanics available (well; it was Sunday evening) so it was a lorry-lift the rest of the way home.
It was that sort of day, really.
Hoping to get it into my local garage this afternoon.
Car is a turbo automatic and any advice is more than welcome.

AMAZIN day yesterday! Great to see you all there, and sorry to had missed a fair few too though. Missed out on being with the group due to leaving a little late and getting held up in Lutterworth (blame it on Aaron and his camera  ) but really enjoyed the day. My 480 did not like creeping round the track and decided to idle very high - he just likes to moooove!! Great repping for the 480 - I hope to see the owners I missed chatting to at future meets :D

Jeff, you let us down by being one of the very few to break down  sorry we couldn't have helped more, but really hope you have her sorted very soon.

BTW if anyone would like a 480 laser cut key ring we still have some and 50% of all sales go to Breast Cancer Care and Mind which Volvo600 have already raised over £6000 for already. Please pm me for further details.

Looking forward to a fun year with my 480 and to meet more 480 inspired people only the way.

Sylvia, it was only a mad wave, but great to see you and your beautiful 480, Al, I did wave and horn madly but you just didn't see me!

Take care of your wedges, and see you all very soon...... :hopping:

Had a great day too!

It's my broken record, but as my 480 is still not on the road, I took the trusty XC.

Big Suffolk convoy including Buttercup in her red 480.

Love this picture of Sharon's car between mine and Phil's XCs. A rose between two thorns!!

Image

By chance, coming into the event we ran straight into the two-tone convoy. Never seen 4 together before.

Great to finally meet Sylvia and Al and Tom with Celebration no.1. Great job getting it roadworthy so quickly.

I was quite limited to how far away I walked from my car as I didn't realise that we had two and a half hours to go up to the front of the line, see, do and buy things  So my son did his best to snap any 480s we saw. Didn't see any in a group at all so must have missed you all! We were 766, about mid way down the first stretch.

Yes, very confusing in terms of did any record get broken. It said five laps, no more than two car lengths apart to be official. So, given the lack of time and 'off ya trot' after just one start-stop lap, I'm not sure but great turnout non the less. :D

The white H turbo was owned by the gent from new on around 75k and gained lots of attention. I spoke to his wife and son but didn't speak to or see any of the other owners of 480s I saw. Have (hopefully) put pics on a link here so as not to overload this post!

I am sorry we missed this but Mother's Day meant needs must elsewhere...

Sounds as if a good time was had by all! I am currently in Anglesey in Lily and passed a 240 on my way to Beaumaris today that still had its Bruntingthorpe number on it...gave a cheery wave and got one in return 😊

Jeff - you broke down? What happened?
