Spotted in Norwich - new member perhaps

When you spot a 480 and wonder if it's someone from the forum: ask it here! One rule: do NOT post registration plates.

Spotted in Norwich - new member perhaps

Post by dragonflyjewels » Thu Mar 14, 2019 6:47 pm

Driving along in Norwich today, I was amazed to see an E reg bronze 480 coming the other way ! I waved as the lady driver went past, then pulled over and turned round to give chase. 4 or 5 other cars between us blocked my view until I saw it turning round in a side road, so I turned again as well and gave chase back the other way - it was rather like a comedy show. The other one turned again so it was then obvious she wanted to chat as well and hadn't just taken a wrong turning, so we both parked and we finally had a conversation.

The ding in the side is recent, done whilst parked by the mysterious Mr Nobody. The car had been her fathers, keys handed over literally on his deathbed.
Condition looked really good. I told her about our club and hope she will join - she seemed very interested.

Which colour is bronze? Is it 184 Silver grey Met? I don't remember seeing it on the colour charts on the main site
Excellent that another early car is found, another one accounted for is another one that can be supported!

No - must have been removed at some point; it will have had the normal body-coloured side strips with black lining. Looks much better with them in place IMHO. Mind you, the cheap black ones that were used for about 18 months or so around 89/90 never looked anywhere near as good.

Need to bear in mind that the club info relates to the Netherlands. What we got was slightly different so possibly the bronze wasn't available over there. We got Paris Blue 2 or 3 years before they did. I'm sure Volvo's marketing people keep their fingers firmly on the dreaded fashion trends in each country.

Ok, that makes some more sense, there is a picture of a bronze one in France somewhere, I thought it was smoke silver under a different light
