URGENT: need throttle brass screw

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

Post by gsa60 » Sun Jan 13, 2019 3:57 pm

Hi,
I need urgently the theottle brass screw that adjusts the idle. It's for a 91 turbo.

Anyone has one that can sell?
Cheers

Part number is 3344818 (no longer available, surprise, surprise)‎. Parts book has this used on the 2.0 cars too so that should widen your search a bit.

might be the week-end cos it's dark when i get home and car is outside, and don't fancy dropping the ruddy thing then having to explain to SWAMBO why the car is 'off the road' ;)

If this #3 is indeed the screw you're worried about, just use anything to plug the hole. There's no use for it. Let alone for adjusting idle.
Too old to bother

Given this post are you still needing a blanking screw? I got sort of distracted today with drive shaft issues :(

BTW,
Robou: pluging the hole from the outside (and not between the manifold and the intake pipe) a high reving engine. Pluging the hole between the intake manifold and the intake pipe, leads to low idle.

well I had a look this evening (under flood light, so not as good as day light) and I can't see any screw that is on the back of the throttle body pointing forward!!!

there is a small 'item' that is covered with a plastic fitting and an aluminium 'clip' but it is maybe a throttle stop (I THINK) but it runs from left ot right :?
the screw (if it is a screw ) might be threaded in from the engine side and goes towards the air filter

the original Volvo one that I found after a while on the side of the road... Image

I replaced with a new one anyway as I wasn't able to find a correct size O-ring and the old one was the reason it was loose in the first place.

BTW I think this indeed has an effect on the idle, The ICV is making the fine work of course, but I think it is still good to follow this procedure:
viewtopic.php?t=19073

Check the idle speed and adjust the basic setting
Move the idle speed regulating valve to the basic setting by earthing the cable* in the test point near the crankcase ventilation.
*B18F: brown/green; B18FT: brown/grey.
-Switch off the airconditioning and wait until the thermostat is fully open and the cooling fan has switched itself off.
-The idle speed should then be 11.7 r/s (700 r/min); adjust, if necessary, with the adjusting screw on the front of the TB. (brassy - gold colour)
-Remove the earth connection from the test point.
-The idle speed should then increase to 13.3 r/s (800 +-25 r/min).

In my understanding, it lets the ICV work in the correct range and it made quite a difference (for the better) to do it this way instead of just screwign it in all the way, mostly noticeable while parking as the engine revs would not dip down that much
