My 480 journey begins here
Here's a picture of my recently purchased 480 celebration, after a good few months of looking and some valuable help from you guys I am now a proud 480 owner. I'm sure I will be asking for your help again in the future but for now I feel I've got a beauty!

Looks lovely. I do like a black 480. That must be a pretty rare colour Celebration as most people bought them in red. Well done.

The Celebration came in Flame Red, Racing Green, Storm Grey or White. Red was the fashionable colour, whilst green was favoured by the golden oldies who had fond memories of BRG. Storm grey and white were only bought by people who did their own thing rather than follow the herd. Well done on finding a rare colour, the blue /purple undertones are just lovely and this looks like a very nice example.

That looks lovely - well done!
Storm grey was a lovely colour but did not seem very popular in 1995 - over half the Celebrations sold were in Burgundy Red metallic. I hope you enjoy the car and that we see both you and her at a meet sometime next year.
BTW, sorry to be picky Sylvia, but there were only three Celebration colours - burgundy red metallic (or Flame red on the continent), white satin and storm grey metallic; the BRG was introduced for the GT and then continued on the standard models for the last year or so of production.

Been racking my brains to recall where I got the info on colours, I think it might have been the man who had 4 Celebrations - I'll have to ask him. Bet dc has a sales brochure saying 3.
On a different tack, we are on the Costa del Sol at the moment and yesterday there was a lovely dark blue 460 with a Madrid plate parked next to our scruffy 850. Total surprise, we've spent a lot of time here over the years and never seen a 4 series before. I took photos to post a 'spotted' but my laptop's gone on the blink so I can't get them loaded on my website.

You are right Sylvia, I do have the Celebration brochure which specifies the three colours and even has a nice little palette with examples of them on it...

I was PM'd by a member - Andrew, a little while ago and after a few back and forths over email I went to look at it and was happy. I've been looking for about 6-8 months now, so was chuffed to be contacted.
I'll be using it as my family car, I have a van for work. So it won't get heavy use but it will be used.
A couple of jobs I've noticed I could do are:- as you can see the passenger side headlight doesn't close completely. There is a very slight leak in the boot, that is going to take time to locate exactly where it's coming in.
apart from that it's pretty spot on,
To be honest, I'll probably just enjoy using it for now though.

If you are lucky with the headlight you'll just be able to adjust the top cover down

Yes, as James says - if you pop up the headlights and remove the black plastic surround (one screw each side, two above the light unit) you can see the four bolts holding the cover on. Great looking example, same as mine but much better cosmetically.
Very jealous. Does it sit high at the rear? curious as I recently changed my rear springs and think I will need to do the fronts in order to level it up again.

No, it pretty prefect in that regard.

There's a pop up light relay which probably wants a clean up as your first port of call. It is in the engine bay on the R/H side up in the scuttle with the wipers. It will be a big tall one with 'pop up relay' on it.
If this problem persists and you need to drive at night, you can raise the lights using the little knurled knobs on the end of the motors. This is described in your hand book. If they go back down when you close the bonnet then you can pull the fuse or the motor plugs once they're raised.
There's an inhibit safety interlock with the bonnet switch. Override this by jamming a screw driver in the recess for the bonnet latch. Try selecting the lights on with the switch then moving the manual knobs a bit, this might also get things moving again.
Ideally you want to get the lights doing a few (say 10) complete revolutions to help clean the relay contacts internally.
Motors can fail but I'd have thought it unlikely that both would be dead.
