Ask at the Facebook group.

I'm quite sure there were a few available around.

Is the buzzing not just the pump switching on and off. I haven't had ABS in a long while but I'm sure my H-reg 480 Turbo‎ could be heard buzzing when you switched the car on and it first built up pressure. So it has an electric pump rather than relying upon engine vacuum.

I have seen on here (c/o Brinkie) that the pressure regulator sphere on the system can be replaced with a Jaguar. If this is flat then the pump would run more often trying to keep the pressure up.

Is the fluid full? It might need bled if air has been drawn in to the system. I think the bleed procedure is more complicated than on a non-ABS car.

I could be completely wrong, but can someone on here with a similar system listen to theirs before the OP removes their pump!

it doesnt do it when starting the car and its a mega loud buzzing and you can actually feel it on the pump. it is only very intermittent though not all the time.

also have been looking on fleabay for a pump and seeing if i can match part numbers. when i put my part number in it brings a few pumps but they all have the plastic brake reservoir fitted on top of them. ours does not have it fitted on top of the pump, its the other side of the engine bay above the steering column almost

K reg means your car was registered in either 1992 or 1993 just around the time the ABS system was changed (assuming 440 changed at the same time as the 480) you need to know the model year of your car which is in the chassis number, it’s the 10th digit.

Actually having re-read your last post the fact that the pump is separate to the master cylinder makes it a Model Year 93. :tomato:

If so (chassis letter P to confirm) and doesn’t have TRACS/Anti Slip (being a turbo it might) there is a unit on ebay, search for part number 466071, that is the control unit part number (which should actually be 3466071) but they are selling the complete unit with pump.

If you do have TRACS for info you are looking for part number 3345003 or the control unit number is 3466072 if it’s sold as a complete unit for the RHD car.

It is crucial to determine whether your car is equipped with ATe MkII or MkIV ABS. MkII has a big black sphere on top of the hydraulic unit which doubles as a brake booster, and the ABS computer is in the boot. MkIV has the ABS computer in the engine bay next to the hydraulic unit. I think it was 1993 when they started to use the MkIV system in favour of the MkII.

our car has the brain next to the unit not in the boot
thankyou very much for the part numbers that will help greatly.
if i knew how to post pics on here i would as im sure some of you would just take one look and go ah yes thats the sos and so model and there is an easy fix for these.

the unit you mentioned without tracs is a very nice guy called Mark and has been a brilliant help so far, if only every business owner was like him, totally up front and honest and is 100% customer focused. not just in it for the money

managed to find the little black box inside the engine bay this morning, according to the flashing led our front right abs sensor is the most common code so will be changing this first whilst still looking for the correct abs pump
