best after market mudflaps?

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

best after market mudflaps?

Post by timrosser » Wed Jun 07, 2017 9:17 pm

Just about to take the 480 to the bodyshop next week, I'm thinking some mudflaps could protect the bodywork & sills, have any of you got any views on which are best? IE stop filth & not trapping water!

Thanks in advance!

I've never found anything, on any car, that's better than factory ones.

Yes, I know its not the answer your looking for!

For protection of sills (which tend to rot from the inside out) I'm a huge Bilt Hamber fan;

DYNAX S50 for the insides of cavities

DYNAX-UB for the outer facing stuff like wheel arches

Yes Bilt Hamber is awesome, you effectively need to line the inside of the panel as it spends a lot of its life under water- think I'm going to epoxy mastic my next ones!

Do you have any tips on factory flaps then Jif? Just wait for some to come up?

Best

Tim

I've not seen a set of flaps come up in my eBay search in, forever.

I'm guessing they've another part joining the ranks of unobtainium!

I should have my set of the car next weekend and will be on eBay.

All look to be good condition, but need to be removed first.

I've got 'CANNON' heavy duty 'generics' on rear and 440 ones on the front, the front ones don't look too bad but fitting screws don't line up but a couple of M4 or M5 SS bolts works wonders

Just got me a set. Can't be too hard to install, compared to a CC....

You have to drill your own holes on the flaps, and it is a little bit tricky, start from the top one and maybe ask a friend to check from a distance if the "Volvo" writing is parallel to the car.

in the back you will need to replace the original screws with longer ones while in the front you will have to replace the three plastic clip with u clips, like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/SPEAKER-fixtur ... B00LPKTZM8

(all is reversible and no holes have to be drilled in the car)

I also have generic ones that I got on ebay. So far, I have no complaints about their quality.
