Rear Armrest Storage Compartment
Hi
Another question...
On the turbo models the rear armrest/storage compartment is lockable whereas on the ES it is not. Are these lockable lids interchangeable? I'm wondering if I obtained just the lockable lid from a turbo at a breakers yard whether it would fit my ES or whether you need to replace other parts of the unit which the locking mechanism engages onto. I appreciate would also need to get the key to fit the lock from the donor car.
Thanks,
Andrew.

I did the opposite operation. I changed a lockable storage compartment that was broken by one without lock. But I changed the box and the base taking advantage that was changing the back seats, so it was very easy.
To change the lid is very easy (only two screws), but the lock I do not know it, because the mine do not exist.
I do not recommend to you the change either: you will have to take one more key, and they are not small.

Mine is not lockable, but think of it this way...it would take more effort to gain entry into your car than it would to access the storage. The thief would hardly think.."Oh no, it's locked, better find another car!!"..they would just pull the lid off...
