OMG! Another info centre thread

From CEM to VEM, from LED to lightbulb and more. If you have an electrical problem, like a broken info-centre, search for answers in this category. This is also the place to be when you expect the problem to be of an electrical nature...

OMG! Another info centre thread

Post by smutsa332 » Fri Jul 31, 2015 1:25 am

Sorry about this but I have been through all 33 pages and can't find this issue.

My info centre on my 93 480 ES constantly shows inst MPG. Turning the switch makes no difference to the display.
When I am running low on petrol it automatically changes over to range, but returns to inst mpg after
When I start start it up it flicks over and does all its checks etc but returns to inst mpg.

Any ideas or am I just better living with it in case I make things worse?

Thanks in advance

Check to see if the connector on the back of the switch has become detached.

Yeah this must be the switch or connector, all the functions you mentioned are automatic and not controlled by the switch. I pulled mine out this week and the connector is quite flimsy (shock!)

thanks for the replies.
How is the switch removed?
(This is the answer I'm dreading) I really am a bit useless at this kind of stuff.

It's just a push fit into the dash.

Bit of leverage with a scraper or similar and it's out. :)

Hammers can't fix a 480!!!
