Damper and springs question.

Post by yorkshire480 » Sat Feb 09, 2013 6:51 pm

I'm gonna replace my front dampers and have been wondering, is it best practice to replace the springs at the same time? The ride height has always been uneven and I'm sure that one of the springs was replaced at some point and this is the cause.
I'm assuming that replacing both springs will assure an even height on each side.

Thoughts anyone?

By uneven, do you mean that one side is higher?

If so, then definitely replace the springs as a pair, the dampers do nothing to alter the ride height.

I'm toying with changing mine too, I recently replaced the rear dampers and it firmed things up no-end :)

Hammers can't fix a 480!!!

Yup that's right. The distance between the top of the wheel arches and the tyres are slightly different.

If your ride height is different on each side it could be a duff damper, damaged spring etc.
Change both sides and you might as well renew the top mounts too while you're there :)
