Could this be a genuine 480 turbo from 1986?

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Believe it or not!

look here

Could anyone accurately translate what says in the ad?

I wonder if that engine is a B18E with turbo bits bolted on or simply... the real thing?

the text basically says that this car was used for testing purposes and for "tinkering" - its possible that this car was used as a platform to test the turbo version - soon to be produced.

a mate of mine has a similar car .... lotus elise, which was registered before the official release of the car - it was used for testing and as a demonstation car for press ect. he finds it hard to get it insured - being a car that is not supposed to exist doesnt help ;)

This is one of several 480's Volvo gave away (free) to technical schools in The Netherlands.
For these cars you will not get a license plate and they cannot be insured.
(That's what the add says, and it is true.)

\roughly traslated

This is a 1986 car used for testing purposes (may not be marking up more). Autoplaying ± 10.000km has stalled, then it is used by MTS to tinkering. All parts are in new condition. Most parts are still present, only the bumpers and lights are removed. Achterspatbord It is also the co-driver side of the car cut. Mail if you are interested in the parts or the complete car. Left alone for the complete end of life, and no nonsense low bids (bids under the 500 euro will not be taken seriously). Sincerely, Wiljen Veldhuis

as told before, there were several 480's given to schools in Holland. When I left ROC Utrecht in 1999 there was a cut open 480 there. Don't know were it is now.

I've seen ads like this before, could be the same car.

It's a pre-production car that can not be licensed and has done app. 10,000km's, then was donated to an educational institute for medium car engineering for students to learn how to disassemble and assemble parts.

The ad says all parts are 'like new' and bumpers and lights have been removed. Also passenger side rear wing was cut out.

Parts of this car may be sub-production standard. Parts may be worn from frequently disassembling and assembling. Parts may be worn from errors made while doing this. Parts may be assembled wrong.

Don't waste your time and money on this car.
