My new clio :)

Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

Here's a couple of pics from me and Sally's recent trip to Stockholm.
The Duett was the 'family' version of the PV544...

But definitely not as nice looking... :-D

Can't think why Sally thought I took too many pics of forms of transport! ;-)

"the white turbo's being least sought after."

Might not be far off the truth though huh? :dunno:

So, i need to be enlightened...why are white 480's so 'un-desireable'.

To quote Practical Classics "...one of the few cars that actually look good in white". And Top Gear even said (before that World Cup thingy that wasted a month of our lives), that white was becoming the new...(i forget which colour )

Just don't geddit :dunno:

The only reason I can think of is that the white paint is more porous and prone to rusting, and when it rusts it shows up much more.

No, i'm being serious...

It was the same story with the old Porsche 911 Turbo. That looked good in white because it had black rear wheelarch protectors and a big black-edged spoiler. And the XR3 pulled off the same trick using the same accessories.

Take a look at the new Land Rover Discovery. In green or blue it looks like it's trying to be a Range Rover, and missing the mark. But in white, with all that tinted glass on the roof, it resembles an auxiliary transport module from Lunar Base X1. It looks great.
I'm not going to deny that white is pretty high maintenance, but if looked after, rust isn't a problem-keeping it clean can be a pain, but if it's washed and waxed properly there's no reason it should spoil. Thats half the reason i picked this one-it was so clean it was easy to continue looking after it.

Just feel that the white slating is quite annoying-everyones open to their opinion i know. I find silver (like my 440) could be a problem-i'm sure that light metallic blue can be a problem-light colours show rust-white just bears the brunt. Looked after white can be nice. It's just very demeaning when it gets slated... :(

Well, it's not that I don't like it (Dan's White 480 looks quite stunning on some photographs), but :

WHITE IS THE STANDARD COLOUR FOR VANS.

It's associative.
Less is often more.

I agree, when looked after well, white is a superb colour.

As I happen to like 480's and think it's a bit churlish to get hung up on the colour, it saddens me that I have to scrap the baroness. I think it's a joke that has got out of hand, because, well I'd rather have a white 480 than a Green metallic, Flame red or the old style black with the dated 80's style red stripes....

Ok, maybe that's not fair, but how many of you who owned those colours got a little bit pissed off when I said that? It's slagging off your cars... I think the lesson is, stop slagging 480 owner's cars off. There's enough people outside the club who do that.

I have to say in defence that I have taken the piss out of whiteys too, but that's ok, COS I OWN ONE!

Here endeth the sermon. [What the f*ck this has to do with Clio's I'll never know... :? ]
