Surprisingly the original very short rear seat belt just fits in to this Maxi Cosy Easy Fix seat base. The baby seat clips on to this. There would be no chance of getting around an actual baby seat to fix one in using the original belts on the early car.
success, :hopping:

but what keeps the diagonal section in vertical mode / next to outside of car

The “lap” part and the “chest” parts of the seatbelt are kept together as they go through a guide on both sides, at hip level. The belt is then locked and pulled tight with an expanding mechanism— putting these seatbelts at their absolute limit. This plus the foot that braces against the floor seem to keep it very secure. With the same base in the other cars in “ISOFIX” mode the foot seems to be essential as well.

I’d say that the seatbelt or the ISOFIX mounts are taking the horizontal movement and that any tipping moment is sent to the floor.

so it's not a piece of zimmer frame left in the footwell ? ?? !

as you say that would all make sense rather than relying on the back rest.

when we were tiny the carry cot was just set across the back seat for my sister and I sat on a cushion on the tunnel between the front seats of the Hillman Husky (estate) :D

Baby boy, born Wednesday, 7lbs 11oz. We’ve just driven him home in wedge style which I think is a good start to life!

My hearty congratulations to you two!
:hopping:
Reminds me of the story I think I remember in which my father had to pass a car crash while driving his brand new Mk4 Golf to the hospital to pick me up IIRC (not that I literally remember it). While that car is now a modern classic, it has nothing on the Wedge.

They say that senses are at their most acute in these years, a 480 should be a sensory feast. You could even say it would give him a Born Identity...

Best of luck to you all :D

Continuing the week with the 480 out of the garage and just being used every day for family transport. Last night it took me out for a drink with the guys I met on the NCT course and today, it took us to the hospital and to the shops. It’s great that it’s in the garage of course but it means I often can’t be arsed to get it out for quick trips out so this week has made me v happy in many respects!

People do stare at us in parent & child spaces though as it’s probably not expected we’ve actually got a baby in the back!
