Very off topic but just in case anyone has a hankering to own one of these French beauties.
Not shite bit hopefully of interest to those on here!
Hello everyone,
I miss the softness of hydropneumatic suspension so I am going to buy a Citroen C6 again soon so the Avantime is sadly going to have to move on to pastures new.
The car had the full Sandy treatment late last year and is ready to go to a new owner. It as 90,000 miles on and the registration is ST53 JJO for checking MOT history (now a clean MOT and due in December.
This means it has had a full strip down and engine out to powder coat, under seal and renew everything— suspension is completely renewed. The bill was around £6500– if Sandy said it needed done, it got done. Its always been garaged in the time I have had it and ultra reliable— the trip up to Sandy was a good thousand mile cruise around the Highlands.
It is standard apart from the addition of a Pure Highway 600 DAB and Bluetooth adapter which transmits nicely to the built on radio.
There are only a few defects which I haven’t gotten around to before selling it:
— Chip out of the bonnet where something fell from the garage rafters when I first put it in there when I bought it. A few millimetres.
— Driver’s electric window sometimes doesn’t like to come automatically up from the fully down position. Flicking the switch 2-3 times gets past this, the. It goes up automatically. I’m told there may be a plastic piece that needs replaced.
— Driver’s seat heating doesn’t work.
The car is in Cambridge. Due to working away a lot these days next week is a good time to view it (Tuesday 13/APR on).
It has been suggested to me by Sandy that this is worth £8500, which seems fair. This leaves me at an overall loss on this car but has meant I got to scratch the long standing Avantime itch in a near perfect car.
For those not in the Avantime club, “Sandy” who I keep referring to is an Avantime god up in Scotland who specialises in full restorations of these. He is on the Avantime Owners Club at avantime-owners.com/forum as “Renoman1975”
