So how do you get the avatar to work?
I want this:

But I just get a box with a X in the middle

The URL you show in your post leads to a HTML page where you can see the picture. Closer inspection of how M$ handles storing pictures tells me they do not simply put them on a webserver, but have some sort of database from where it needs extraction or something blabla. Conclusion: you cannot use pictures stored at a M$ server from MSN groups.

Here you see some sort of session ID added to the url.

If you want to use that picture, take an account at geocities or something and upload the picture there. You then have a link directly to the picture...

You can't use msn for links

It was the same with the old forum, better off using your own webspace or using something like photobuckets
