Re: Ice, Ice mutha-fucking-T!
When designing the 480 they didn't think to make the boot that little bit deeper so people like myself could fit a good install in there.

SpaceMonkey looking at the type of tunes you are in to I'd say forget about bass and concentrate on your mids and tops as these are what are going to get caned the most. When you have this done just install a mid bass driver just to enhance the lower notes. But if you really do want to have some form of sub there for that one time go for a 10inch as this should suit your needs and still pack a good punch.

Re: Ice
I listen to all types of tunes. Including rock.

I have to quickley fitted some of my ICE in my new turbo due to only surviving 70miles with the standard radio!!

This is only a tempory system until i save enough cash to get some equipment.

I am running a Pioneer Head unit with cd changer MB Quartz 5inch components powered by an amp and 12inch subs powered by another amp running 2 ohms. Need to tidy it all up now as is a mess but atleast i have tunes.

Now i aint being funny here
but whats with the embalming fluid??

you Freddy West?

Think Lees ya man to answer that.

I've been looking at 480 pelle well build and i might try something similiar in the future

Re: Ice
Joey Picked up a good deal on an AudioBahn sub. These are very good quality.

You should be able to pick up a JL Audio 10W0 for about that. This is JL Audios cheaper sub but it does kick a good punch, and comes with the name everyone in audio knows.

But before you go and throw money at a sub work out how much volume you going to have as this will decide your options. All subs to have a certain volume to be able to work properly. Failier to use a big enough could result in your sub going up in smoke. You would melt the voice. The manufacter will just say warranty void due to not being properley installed. I know this from experience due to 1 being a warranty administrator and from working in an ICE dealers.

Re: Ice
Yeh Clipping is a bitch. Never under power your speakers , basically the top end of singal is removed and it becomes a straight dc current heating you coil.

Badda Boom!

Re: Ice
Clipping is not the only problem you will have. If you run your sub in a box that is too small it will melt weather you have too much power or not.

Then this will also hurt your amp. This will then result in your am starting to clip.

Re: Ice
I've heard that you can get around this by putting a load of speaker wadding inside the box, this tricks the woofer to work harder as it thinks its in a bigger box.

Never tried it myself mind

As for myself, rewired my stereo loom to be ISO.

Next up running the RCA leads / Remote Power and power Cable for amp

Lee fancy earning some cash.....

lol

Re: Ice
Wise words... I've read a few scientific books about speaker cabinet design so no worries there, apart from finding them a tad dull. Rocketry and pyrotechincs are much more entertaining!! But anyway, did you know that coconuts kill more people each year than sharks? Just heard that on World Of Pain on Bravo... Anyway....
Maybe some one with a bit more time can calculate the air volume of the spare wheel cavity for the benifit of all of us and then some one clever can suggest ideal speakers for this.
And yes, I agree, Lee should be making money out of his knowledge..
Oh, and I am an embalmer hence the fluid. Each bod takes about 8 litres of solution which is made from water and 0.5-1.0 litre of 'Metasyn' Embalming Fluid. Sometimes I add a moisturizer like 'Restorative' and 'Rectifiant' to counteract the effects of drugs or biophysical imbalances in the body fluids that neutralise the formaldehyde. And then 1 litre of 'Cavity Fluid' into the abdomen to dry and set the guts. These fluids come in 25 Litre containers and hance I can't carry them on my bike so I use the car and need all the space I can get. And they are highly toxic.
And no, they NEVER sit up on the slab. It is 100% impossible and anyone who says otherwise is Full of Shit. Cos I know. I've done about 8000 or so...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/sick.gif ALT=":x">
