Re: ICE
Sounds a nice enough system already!

had anyone with a 480 or 480 turbo 91 onwards ever wired new speaker wires to the front and rear speakers driven by an amp?

i would appreciate some advice on where to start and how to dismantle the rear side trimming to run new speaker wire in

Re: ICE
I have completely run new OFC for ever speaker. This can be a little tricky in the doors due to space and getting the thicker wire through the little tube.

I had crossovers which were on display in the boot so i had to run wires for both mid-range and tweeters.

Also if you upgrade your front tweeters you will need to moddify the tweeter housing a little, unless you buy an upgrade kit. The problem with direct replacements in the crossovers they come with are crap. They only cut of frequencys to the tweeters. So you mids get full range. This is not good.

As for the amp(s). I only ever run my speakers off an amp. This way you get the best control of your speakers whether their sub, mids or tweeters. With control over you speakers you came get the best out of them.

One of the best places for audio in b'ham is BassBin Sparkhill. But a word of warning. If you don't know what you want or are new to audio you will get ripped off.

HEAD UNIT
How do you guys get the cage to be held secure in the appeyute . y.

My Sony head Unit would be a thieves dream as there was no where i could bend the tabs down to secure the cage as the appeture is just smooth.

So the result is when i need to remove the Head unit i just pull on the cassette hole and the entire head unit and cage comes out in a second. I'm not too bothered about it as A) there isnt enough accelaration to push it out and B) I Never leave the face on the car.

Re: HEAD UNIT
Sony headunits are a theive's dream anyway. The clips sony use on their new units are crap. You can take them out without any tools.

When i fitted my headunit I drilled holes into the appeture. The best thing I ever did. Took over an hour to get the unit back out as I'd also secured the wiring harness aswell. This is the best thing to do with a sony.

Their is a lad up north who put the radio somewhere else for security. He put it where the heated seat buttons are.

Re: HEAD UNIT
I would have personally thought that securing the headunit in is a bad thing to do - a thief won't know until they've made the decision to actually enter the car, by which time they are probably minded to get the radio at all costs, causing extreme damage to your dash (I've seen cars where the thief has just cut away an entire section of dash with the headunit in)... My headunit is fairly loosly installed so that if someone really wants it, they can get it without damaging my dash or wiring - as long as I take the front panel out of the car when I leave it, it is also covered against theft by the manufacturer (although I hope I never get to find out whether they will honour this)

1995 480 Turbo, Flame Red Metallic, Jacquard/Leather
