Theres one with 202 posts since last night...I was wondering why it was taking so long to report them. Ridiculous.

Now 220, and another with 538. Theres some offensive things there too. Theyre putting em up as fast as I'm reporting them, if only we could all delete them. Would feel abit more useful then!

I am afraid we are losing the battle with the spammers they are slowly but surely bringing the forum down . If we dont get a mechanism to click on a poster and with one button press remove all the posts of the spammer then as things stand this forum will be finished in a month . Samuelf..... is posting up damn near 100 every day , , there must be damn near 1500 spams on the furom as it stands today.

and the sex spammers are reappearing .

to de spam the forum as it stands will probably take 2 hours +.

we must get some effective method of stopping them posting rather than bolting the gate after the horse has gone.

All Joolz and I can do is remove either a thread or a post on an individual basis.

I have even conteplated where there are a lot of spam on a very short old thread deleting the lot.. Harsh but as things stand the forum is collapsing under the weight of these bastards.

I volunteer to do some daily spam cleanup. As it is now, my interest in the forum is going down, since all \I see is spam, no posts. But I am prepared to delete my share if the admins allow me to.
And they should give the mods rights to block users. Indeed it is pointless to remove posts from oremawaria and likes over and over again.

But if the forum admins don't care or take time t solve the problems, what Jim says, the forum will be death soon.

I used to look for 480 parts on the Dutch Marktplaats website. But if you look now most advertisements are spamvertisements, with very very few true 480 parts between them. Even when '480' is entered in the search field, they made their software so that all those spamvertisements are displayed. So in the end of the day, I never go here anymore.

Agree with all you say. I would also be more than happy to help with deletion to try to help stem the flow.

I got the feeling earlier when I was reporting that the 'endad....' spammer was only spamming whilst I was signed in. As soon as I signed out he stopped, then when I signed in later to do some more reporting he started up within 10 minutes... Oremarawia also has exactly the same content in places so banning the IP of one should wipe both out

Blimey, just checked in for the first time in a while (what with not having had a 480 for two years) -just one spammer seems to have necrobumped 200 topics since Sunday from the looks of it.
Didn't realise it had got so bad - If you want me to give you a hand, let me know - the more people doing it might save it. I'll PM big brother....

Suggestion -
All new users have to have their first 5 or 10 posts positively approved by a mod before they appear. All spam posters are "simply" deleted. Similar to brand new users being unable to post pictures at the moment.
After that they can post freely.

That way all the spam posts are held in one holding area and thereby in theory easier to delete. Surely would be easier than chasing them around the forum...

It would also have prevented me ending up with somewhat unpleasant porn on my screen last night....

quite a long time since im registered, so i dont know the way it is right now, but usually u have to register, than check your email adress to activate your account (and prove your email).

Most of the time, this will keep spammers out of the forum. Even if they manage to cheat this with a email-provider (most likely on their own servers), it should be possible to block a specific adress.


Or, what i think is even better than this "first 5/10 posts must be checked by a moderator" thing, is that every new member must be activated (after proving his email) by hand. I'm not sure if a moderator can do this, too. This way you only have to delete a spammer, not 10 posts or whatever written by every single bastard.

Why not close the registration of new members for a couple of weeks?

The real 480 fans will come back and you buy some time to solve things while the forum remains functional.

I don’t actually have the ability to remove users or elevate anyone else’s permissions, only the admins can do that, believe me if I could everyone who has offered help would be recruited.

Registering new members is now blocked - this should work as a temporal measure to prevent spam.

Then there is the need to install a decent spam fighting mod - I cannot do that since this requires server-access and I don't have that...
