Mitsubishi Starion
Never seen nor heard of these before a top gear repeat the other night. Another 480 look-alike that I want to own!
Anybody here own/drive one of these?

I hope Clarkson repeated the story about how the car supposedly got it's name...
...That the Mitsubishi marketing guys asked around for a really muscular English word, suitable for their magnificent new rear-wheel drive beast...
...something that would evoke the same mystique as, say, the Mustang
... and somebody cleverly suggested they call it the Stallion
...So the Japanese marketing department phoned the US marketing department and (linguistics being what they are) ordered a huge campaign for the new Mitsubishi Starion...

Tonee: '93 Two Tone. High mileage but nice 'n' tidy.
Sheba: '91 ES Paris Special. Love that leather, baby. Scrapped and used as a spares car.

And I think I have said this before, but the Capri was going to be called the Capriano (or something like that) until someone pointed out that in Greek it meant goats s*%t!

i think i remember (from my 80s childhood!) Paul from Neighbours drove a Starion.
As for car names, anyone remember the Lancia Y10 (white hen)? And apparently the Fiat Ritmo was renamed the Strada for the British market cos Ritmo sounded too much like a lawnmower. Probably not far off the mark, remembering the one my dad had for a (short) while!
