Marts NOT new car (again)

Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

Marts NOT new car (again)

Post by martinholmesuk » Wed Mar 11, 2009 4:49 pm

Yep changing from the 325i to a 320i. Picking up tomorrow.

Image

Image

Here's the details.

BMW 320i SE Auto Saloon.

91' last of the e30 shape, 320i (straight six) se auto, The original and the best!

Low Mileage with all old bills and mots to back up, Full bmw service book and all owners manuals.

FSH with all green service + inspection lights on dash. All service work carried out by a bmw tech.

Long Mot

Immmaculate interior no wear at all. I have always kept seat covers to look after the seats, the seats are immaculate and have no wear at all to seats or carpet.

Waxed and cleaned every weekend, very bright paintwork, no dings etc. small bubbles of rust on arches, small rust on front wing.

Structurally very good, car is amazingly clean under due to it being dry stored in a garage for many years by previous owner. No oil leaks, rust under car or any damage at all.

Full engine service recently done by bmw tech, plugs, oil filter, air filter. This car has been loved. Engine runs lovely and starts first time every time. Pulls strong and returns very good economy (around 35mpg+). Gearbox is perfect, easy to to use and very smooth. Car has no mechanical issues at all, it is 100% reliable and will drive you anywhere. Car is in daily use and is a joy to drive.

This car benefits from a few choice custom uprgrades and quality aftermarket parts.

Compomotive lightweight forged alloy wheels all round, 16 inch with custom locking wheel nuts.

New performance tyres all round.

Drilled and grooved front discs with brand new uprated pads, recent full brake fluid change with bmw dot fluid, brakes very strong.

Full Bilstein HD suspension all round (performance shocks and performance springs)

Fully polybushed.

Still retains oem ride quality with lower ride, car rides very well over all surfaces, nice and tight in the corners.

Quality sony active black face cd headunit with sony remote control fitted, Expensive pioneer component speakers fitted all round x4, car is proffessionally wired up with good wires for an amplifier and subwoofer in the boot. Electric aerial works fine and goes up and down perfect.

Clifford concept alarm with full closure feature.

full toolkit in boot, spare, jack etc.

SE model with interior computer, vehicle check lights, electric windows, mirrors, power steering, sunroof.

This car was owned by an enthusiast prior to me and was dry stored for a few years, which is why its in this condition. I have continued to care for this car and this will show to any buyer.

Reluctant sale of a genuine cared for future classic.

I was going for another 480 turbo but saw this just over an hour before it ended.

Was the 325i too thirsty?

I'm currently driving a 3.0 and yeh, it's noticeable. :D

Change on plan. Not having it.

Went out tonight to have a pay for it.

Outside of the car looked OK minus a few rusty bits but it's a old car. Under the car was fine.

Springs and shocks rode well but looked very old. Wheels where multi suited stud patten which I hate.

Brake pads where half worn and not new.

The reason I did not buy it.......

The engine was chattering badly! Soon as I opened the bonnet I knew it was not heathly. Odd as the car seemed to drive just fine and once I blipped the throttle the chattering got worse.

I don't mean the tappets! It was a chattering/rumbling sound. I told the guy and said it's not for me. The really funny thing was how it took 10mins to reach his house from the station but only about 2mins to get back. I wonder if he was trying to warm it up... :S All in all he was a decent guy I feel but the ex owner was his mate and a MOT man.

hmmm

It's always good to follow your instincts. It told you something is wrong and that's why you stepped back from it. The right car for you will come I'm sure.

Is the cam chain driven? A chattering cam chain indicates an intergalactic mileage.

If it's belt driven and still chattering...run!

I would suggest that sounds like a timing chain...they can go for years like that but I wouldn't buy one already like it!

I got this wrong guys. I know what a chair sounds like as the spitty was a little chatty. I'll end with a rumble sound lol.

Well I'm having my BM welded up Monday on the sill by a work mate's garage owner friend.

So rather then buy that newer BM i'm spending the money on some welding and new SS brakes line and a poly diff bush. :hopping:
