Volvo 850 GLT

Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

Volvo 850 GLT

Post by aibast » Mon Dec 01, 2008 1:41 pm

Ok, I'm getting myself a second car as a DD. Looking @ a 850 GLT form 92. Its cheap as hell to buy with some bad spots. Anyone have on of these?

Im pretty sure someone on here has one as they talked to eme about it, its lovely, EXTREMELY fast I am told and all black with tinted windows. Its probably "pimped" but I thought it looked quite tidy, tho you may get pulled for the occasional drug raid once in a while

Got to be honest if I was going to get anotr Volvo it would be either that or a 360 (not for looks tho, more to do with it being RWD!) ;)

I love 850s. I test drove an 850 2.0 20v and it was a gutsy barge. I can only imagine the madness of a T5.

my first car was a 2.5 20v GLT, and currently drive a T5, both seriously comfy, the 2.0 10v has 140 bhp, 2.5 20v is 170bhp, 10v is the best for economy, parts are also plentiful, they are reliable if looked after, rust is not an issue with these cars, so make sure you check oils seals, drop links, wishbones, discs etc... replacing main seal is an engine out job, and the clutch can be time consuming... if you get a good one go for it...

I thought the 2.0 10v was about 110bhp and the 2.0 20v was 140bhp. Although the 20v certainly felt like it had some poke.

A T5R in canary yellow would be great. Shame the AWD is biased towards the front.

ya could be right there matey, but the NA cars had plenty of torque through the range, and great load luggers

this one is a 2,5 20V NA. Going to have a look @ it today. I'll post you the result :) I have driven T5's and T5R's before. Like the feel of the 850 compared to 740 that I had before. Its more controlled and not that much as a boat on a road.

Had a 1996 850T5 for 3 years. Re-mapped, producing about 270BHP. Loved it.
