A 'living in the past' request...Amiga!! Yes, an Amiga...
This time, it's not about me posting pictures of my late 480 Now, you can all laugh, take the piss, whatever. Basically, as me and Shaneeka are saving for a house, we're cancelling Christmas this year. Now, i really wanted an Xbox 360...however, it's not going to happen. But, to be honest, i'm not really into modern games (too many buttons confuse me!)-the only reason i want one is for Sensible World of Soccer. Well, that, and Alien Breed too... Both are games from my earlier days, but it seems so pointless shelling out for an Xbox for those, so....
I'm looking for an Amiga 1200! I had one of these but sold it many years ago. It's to be my christmas present substitute! So up you go, into your lofts etc....if anybody has one, and i'm being deadly serious, please please please let me know! I can spend hours playing on that...

But eBay is stupid! I watch and bid, but always get out-done at the end by people who are far richer than me! Yes, rich enough to buy an Amiga! Gutted...
The request still stands! Please, somebody quench my thirst for sad, lonely, stuck in the past gaming...and yes, it is my Christmas present...

I don't think people realised just how good Workbench was. I didn't, it didn't seem important at the time. Why did Commodore self destruct? Was it just about software piracy? It didn't seem to stp the new releases
I remember buying a 0.5 Meg upgrade so I could play Lotus Espirt Turbo Challenge... what a game!

Not using a PC i'm afraid! I'm using something very similar to your last name...kennymac wrote:What about running an Amiga emulator on your PC?
With regards to Workbench, i wasn't really sure what it was full stop. All i used my Amiga for was playing lots of games! Great bit of kit though... Emulators. Tried a few on my old PPC Mac, G4, but too much coding for Joe Average, not enough understanding on how to get it to run properly. Shame!
So, has anybody bloody got one or not? Breathe Daniel, Breathe I've seen a couple on eBay. I'll just have to look for auctions that finish when i know i'm going to be home. My biggest regret was selling my one for £15 with about 20 boxed games, and it was boxed (and about 200 'loose' games ). Gutted! Things you do when you're skint!

Err, i cheat slightly and use an auction sniper. Dan, stick up a link to what you want to buy and i'll snipe it for you or show you how to do it?
Either that or we chip in, as a club, and buy Dan an Amiga
Ok, thought not
I cant belive they actually sell for money, i thought you'd be the only person in the country after one?!

Why thankyou very much JT...i'll keep you posted!JohnTurbo wrote:I think i may still have 2-300 "loose" games you could have if i could find them/you buy one.
That sounds brilliant-i won't hold you back if thats how you feel (just try and organise it behind my back as i'd prefer it to be a surprise, and make sure it's an Amiga 1200 )Murf wrote:Either that or we chip in, as a club, and buy Dan an Amiga
I know-thought i'd be bombarded with non-selling units on eBay, but it seems i'm not the only person stuck in the past! Mine didn't even make £20, and it was pretty darn clean/good condition too...wish i'd have kept hold of it now!Murf wrote:I cant belive they actually sell for money, i thought you'd be the only person in the country after one?!

Yep, old games consoles are going up in value. Not too long ago managed snag a prototype Apple Pippin console with all the peripherals (labeled "prototype property of Apple Computer") including the ultra ultra rare KINKA ROM for not much more than the price of an MOT failed 480. I see now even the the shop sold production units are going for £300+ on ebay without any games!
Have you tried you local Cash Converters? I picked up a Nintendo Game Cube last week with controller for £7.

We've just had a cash convertors open up in the last mont, never thought of asking in there. I changed my Facebook status to looking for an Amiga 1200, and one of my brothers friends say's he has one in his loft, so hopefully the hunt will be over, but i'll see. There are a few on 'the bay', but i'd rather avoid it if i can!
