Thieving b*stards!!

Well, as the title suggest some b*stards tried to steal my GT4 last Fri night!!
Theyve burst both the door locks and handles, bent the metal surrounding the handles, ripped off the plastics round the steering column. Split the tube that holds the steering lock right down the middle and burst the lock on that too. They almost had it started, the only reason they didnt was because my neighbour called the cops and disturbed them.
Cops reckon it was being stolen to order by 4 tooled up guys in a new shape impreza, they are currently checking cctv and dusted it for prints, also took some trim away to dna test.

So, i'm going to stash it in my works workshop till i can sort it.

So far its:
both door handles and locks, ignition barrel. Plastic upper surrounds for steering column.Drivers door.

With regards to the steering lock, it looks like i have to replace the whole upper steering column assembly because they have split the alloy tube that the lock sits in. It bolts on to the steering column with security bolts that have no head,

Things like this really piss me off. I hate twokers they are complete scum and I dont understand why the dickheads try to steal cars acting all hard. You worked hard to buy that car, and some arsehole thinks itd be funny to screw it up for a quick lump o cash or a joyride. Bunch o nobs. I hope the cops get these scumbags!! They couldnt care less about my car when it happened, I guess cos yours is valuable they will try hard! And I hope they do-cos people like this make me so mad! What makes them think that they can have other peoples things that other people have had to work hard for???

And what annoys me even more is, if it had have been stolen and not recovered you would have lost your no claims (less its protected) and it not even your fault!! Insurance sucks as well...morning rant over.

Murf, sorry to hear about this. It's alright for them to screw up the car because they can replace the parts and still make a tidy profit when they sell it. But you're left to tidy up their mess I should imagine the police will take this really seriously if it is a professional job, I suppose there's some hope that they've provided enough evidence to get them banged up.

As Brasco says, you dont want to go chasing after them! Outnumbered 4 to 1 plus they have crowbars and a car, no thanks. I'd rather they took the car than knifed someone, my neighbour who caught them was ready to chase them with a baseball bat but saw sense and called the cops instead, phew!
Not really that angry about it, just a bit gutted.
Got all the bits i need to fix it lined up, £140 plus the cost of getting the new door sprayed. Its not worth troubling the insurance for that. The bits from toyota would be about £1500 and they'd just write the car off!

They have no alarm or immobiliser as standard, been meaning to fit one but never got round to it. This has been a bit of a kick up the arse though.
Just been to RS components and picked up some bits to make it more theft resistant. I love reed switches, if you dont wave a magnet over a certain part of the dash, then the car just wont start

Ordered a gps alarm too, you can control it with your mobile, via text messages. You can also text it and it'll text you back the cars co-ordinates, type them into google maps and it'll tell you exactly where it is. Also what speed and direction its travelling in

Also, going to disconnect the door locks, epoxy up the holes and get them sprayed over when the new doors get fitted.

Oh, and a snap off steering wheel should finish the job

Speaking as a 'Cop'. who saw the light & escaped to a new 'life in the sun'............... I bet your local Cop-shop know who the 'toe-rags' are but have no evidence........... so are helpless to act...........

I also know that even if they could bring a charge, the courts would only give a minimal fine - that would would never be payed............. then the helpless cops would be tasked to arrest 'matey-boy' for non payment of his fine............. then when arrested, the magistrates would give him longer to pay the fine at less per week (as he would 'play the system' and claim the original cost were too stiff)....................... then he would continue not to pay................................... so a new warrant would be issued for his arrest.......... and the cops would be tasked to go and arrest him again............ Get the picture folks?
