I can't read any of this....

Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

He picked an interesting colour!

Looks like a lot of time and effort went into it tho...

And what is it about 480 project people always living in fantastic surroundings

I thought it was RWD too...

It does look the poodles privates imo-i wouldn't want it like that if it was a daily driver, but as a track car it looks so nice. It was quite clean when it started out in standard guise!

With regards to the holes, perhaps they were to feed cold in when the intercooler was there-i'd guess the bumper beam would have been ripped out to save weight? So holes put there as a direct feed maybe :dunno:

I hope he keeps posting picture updates, i'd like to see how it pans out....and as i won't be learning any new languages in the near future...

I'm guessing its a 9xx series rear diff/suspension? I think those pictures answers the "how difficult is it to make a rwd 480?" question.

I think these are actually two cars because after the foto's of the finished blue car with standard drive come pics of the other an ongoing project with rear wheel drive conversion and a Volvo 16 valve DOHC engine with turbo compressor.
The differential is from a BMW 525TDS for as much as I can understand.

The finished blue car does not have the big center console seen in the ongoing project images.

Or the finished blue car is now converted to rear wheel drive which I cannot really believe cause it looked so clean and the to be converted car is rather dirty. Plus it would be a waste to destroy most of the beautiful finish of that car.

Volvo 480 RWD

Post by B18_A » Mon Jul 06, 2009 12:01 am

Hallo!
My name is Fredrik Edvardsson and i am the bulider and owner of this blue 480 with rwd. I do not write so where good in english but i should try : )

The car is a -88 turbo and i start to build on it in 2005. The first version of it was fwd. My goal was to tune the standard eninge, but i was afraid that it would broke all the time with standard parts (gearbox as a exempel). It´s also hard to get the horsepowers down in the ground with fwd. I have always think that the volvo 480 should have been build as rwd as standard. So i began to build it in 2007. And now the car is "finish". And i have real fun with it as rwd.

The holes in the bumper is to cool down the intercooler.
And it is not two diffrent cars : )

If you have any question i would try to answer them in my bad english = )
You can also try to use google translate to understand swedish. I often use it!!! It´s great.
