My new Fun Car :)

Post by tobi480turbo » Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:33 pm

Hi,

at the beginning of this year had the idea to get another ( 2nd ) car which also is fun like the 480 ... so it had to be a turbo one ^^

And after some thoughts which car to take it finally was a VW Golf MK2 ... but as you probably can imagine not with standart engine.
As base a Golf Mk2 from 1991 was taken and as engine a Audi TT turbo engine was "implanted" with 225 Hp stock, so that there is some more room for more power :D

That´s how it looks so far:

It was a lot of work to get erverything installed an running, especially the electrical wiring, but so far it´s very big fun to drive and I think it was worth the time and money spend.

Regards

Hi,

THX for the replies :)

The 2L turbo is off the road at the moment but it´s going to be on the road again the next month.
Over the winter I´m going to fix some little problems at the Golf, and after the winter my 480 is going to get some attention ... some things have to get overhauled and cleaned so that everything is in good shape again ;)

The bonnet vent doesnt really have a purpose at the mo ... it was like it is when I bought the Golf, probably some more cold air is getting to to airbox but mostly it´s for "show and shine" at the moment *LOL*

And no I´m not saving weight at the wheelnuts ( would probaly be the wrong place to save weight ) ^^
The Pic of the wheel with brake was made before everything was mounted at the car ;o)

So far the car runs like a beauty ... and the best is ... you don´t see that it has that much power under the hood *gg* so it´s often interesting to see the reaction of other drivers when I floor the accelerator :D

Cheers

My friend's S3 has that lump in it. Heavier car but 4x4. I can imagine the effect anyhow!

I hope to hat it chipped at the beginning of next year ... I hope to get ~ 270 to 280Hp without changing the turbocharger ... with another charger ~330hp should be realistic :)

Nice conversion! I'm looking to do one myself.

My friend has just done his with a garrett 3071R turbo hitting 400-450 bhp it's a right beast!

Thx :)

It´s quite a lot of work ... especially the electrics, but if it´s done it´s quite a lot of fun as I wrote ^^

I also was thinking about a Garrett 3070 or something similar, but ther´s much more which has to be done to run such a "big" charger. I think new injectors, other conrods, garrett exhaust manifold, new downpipe, better bearings and more or less complete different air routing has to be done. Not to forget that the engine should be chipped / finetuned at a dyno ... and for this conversion I´ve to save some more money *LOL* also a limited slip differential would be a goodie with this amount of power ^^

Cheers

Nice Golf!! Never thought i'd say that!!
The big brakes are always a dead giveaway when you have a stock looking car with big power!
Is the front wing vent the one from an old VW transporter van??

Hi!

@ Murf
Thx !
Yeah good taste in fact of the gauges :D
I think they´re really looking great, what kind of car is this where you have installed them ?

Big Brakes are a must have with this amount of power ... and I really don´t wanna miss them !
The front wings are made of fibreglass and the Vent at the right side just was made similar like the ones at the transportes but isn´t used from a VW transporter.

Cheers!
