My new love!
Well, I finally made up my mind and got myself another Volvo to use in the wintermonths while my 480 will reside indoors to prevent it from rotting away due to salt etc.
I wanted an estate, something sporty, something specacular even, and in the end there was only one car that could truly captivate my passion: the Volvo 855 Cream Yellow T-5R!!!
So last tuesday I spotted one for sale on a dutch adverts-site. It was past 10 PM so I didn't think it was right to call the seller at that time. So I mailed him... The next morning: no reply... So time to send an SMS... At 9 AM I still hadn't heard from him, so called him and left a message on his voicemail. 10:15 he called me back, and we had a nice conversation. We agreed to a fair price and he would let me be the first to have a look at the car.
Man, when I arrived in Amsterdam I was thrilled, it looked gorgeous, amazing, incredible, if it was a woman I would... O well, let's keep this thread respectable . The testdrive revealed nothing serious. He warned me that the airco sometimes worked, sometimes didn't work, that was all. Everything just felt right, so in the end: I bought his cream yellow banana
When I came home I discovered the turbo has had it's best days, apparantly it leaks oil into the engine, causing white plumes of smoke, but this will be sorted within two weeks at my expense (will contact the seller to discuss this matter and we'll see where it leads), but even with the costs of refurbishing a turbo I paid a good price
Man I love this car, it just goes and goes, aibast will know what I Mean, when you reached 80 and are still accelerating it just keeps pulling
The 480 will stay, of course, cannot imagine life without one! So am now looking for a garage nearby to keep her indoors!
Here are some pictures for the 'ooooohhh' and 'aaaahhhhhh'

Well, after joyfully bringing the 850 from workshop to workshop for fixings it seems he is ready for a 3-week holiday in Sweden! This time the 480 will get some rest during the summer.
The following things have been done to the 850:
- shiny rear clusters (yep, the 850 ones until 1995 also fade...)
- new turbo
- new cambelt
- new airco (condenser, cooling-element (in dash) and compressor replaced)
- Titan rims refurbished
- two new Michelin tires
In short: *OUCH*
But it seems I have now tackled all the pricey bits for a long time (I wish) and it's time to head off to sunny Sweden (http://www.smhi.se - prognoser at the top) Take care, hope to come back in a couple of weeks completely rested
