Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

Straight away he found some scratches that must have come from factory (pray i didnt do them). I had instructed my dealership Greens of Holborough not to touch the car upon delivery off the transporter even to the point of leaving all window stickers on!!!! They did this perfectly for me.
That's right mate the dealer thinks your a right fruit loop.

 and Martin washed his dark green 480 turbo using the finest of car wash that he picked up from halfords and used a jet washer to remove bird shit.

Maybe that's my problem.... I just don't try hard enough in life??

Maybe so, but was all his trouble worth it? I mean it looked amazing, and you could see the difference, but how long will that last, and how often will he have to re-do it?!?

I go 50 miles down the motorway and there are more dead bugs on the bonnet and windscreen than i've had hot dinners!

Oh my god, I though spending Sat morning waxing our 480's and giving the engine bays a clean was a bit geeky (looked good though!).

Looks like your going to have to move up a bar on the cleaning front Dan 480 Man!

i think that wax will last for months so the shine will stay, so long as the caar is kept clean, also things like dead flys will just wipe off with a damp cloth.

Thats fecking awsome.

Finally, somebody who worries like i do whilst waxing...
I asked Paul why this was so important and he explained that for maximum reflection you needed to take away the peaks in the clearcoat to a maximum point of the lowest trough microscopically which should flatten the clearcoat to a reading of + or - 2 microns across the board and take no more than 8 microns from the clearcoat for fear of clearcoat failure in the future....
That is pretty bloody clean, but must have cost a fair bit. And i wonder how long it lasts before it starts to lose its lustre. I really would have a hard job taking it out after spending all that time/money on it. But on a serious note, i can appreciate his thinking. Admitedly (sp), i'd never spend that sort of money, but the whole OCD thing i can relate to (2 quick 'mini' waxes yesterday ) He's a long way to go to catch me up though...

What a loser, he needs to get out more...;)

hiya jim,

ro water?
http://www.organicwater.co.uk/what-is-r ... smosis.asp

sort of explains it.....i use it for tropical fish personally, but for car cleaning its supposed to be the dogs danglys.....you know those water marks and streaks with tap water? mainly things like lime and other shite in the water....ro water has none (or very very little - almost to the extent of none)
you can get filters to stick in your hose pipe that make tap water come out pure....

ps...for the pug its a fiver to the local eastern european hand wash team.....for the PT cruiser....im as bad as dan......aint got a 480 at the mo to wash

You have to wait for a storm to make your work's roof to fall on our car.
Probably not worth the hassle.
