Problem with Power Transmisson

Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

Problem with Power Transmisson

Post by suddy » Mon Sep 18, 2006 4:03 pm

now then, this might be a bit complicated but i have a problem.

no, not that.

i have just bought a brand new record player, only thing is, i plug it in and my record doesnt go round.

i think its a problem with the power transmission between the plug in the wall and the record player itself. i think its called a cable.

i did discuss this with my fellow members at lincs, but they didnt seem to know why.

can anyone else help?

Having done further research I can only conclude;

Manual Transmission is superior to Power Transmission

Have you tried moving the arm away from the centre of the turntable slightly, some use this as a method of switching on the turntable rather than having an actual ON/OFF switch. Other than that haven't got a clue, sorry bud :D
Y reg mk1 XR2 - braw fun, now departed
H reg 480 ES Just Goes, now departed
M reg 480 2.0l S (Chassis No 592056) Even better, still going (for now)
Thinking about a turbo - it's all your fault, mind you, saw a black XR4i the other day...........

Belt drive or direct drive?

The belt could have perished and snapped.

Can you hear a motor running?

If you lift off the rubber mat from the turntable and lift......

Hang on, is this an in joke I've missedf?

I suspect the plug may be at fault.

You need to check that it is the three fingered kind.

One finger, no good.
Two finger no good. Two finger is German plug.
No good, no good.

I love you.

Also take care when you put needle on the record.

Do not be a careless scratcher ...

Look at this...
