Wonder how much this will go for?? Normal value for an average mileage mk1 with no rust would be £1500-£2000, tops!!

Also wonder if anyone has done the same thing with a nice early turbo 480??

hmmm... that's a collectors item... like star-wars figures still in their packets. I don't understand the mentality, cos Star-Wars figures should have been played with and that car should have been driven when the technology was not superceded.... ah well... someone wants to pat £8.5K... money and sense do not always come in equal abundance. For that money, you could get a lot more.

in some ways thats amazing, and in others it just feels wrong. it sounds silly but i would prefer to own a car that was as clean as that because it had been driven all its life then restored. i mean if you buy that now you couldnt ever drive it which is a big shame.

still, i suppose the people who want to keep cars in a museum allow us to appreciate (in some ways) how cars were when they were new but it doesnt appeal to me, i like mine to be clean and cared for but most of the fun comes from actually driving the thing which we must remeber is what it was designed to do!

i wonder if it will make more than it cost new...

It'd make more sence if it was a nice looking car. Am i the only one who thinks a mk1 mr2 makes the 480 look like the prom queen?

Mk2 are 1000% nicer.

guess you've never driven one then?? ;)

Personally i think the Mk1 looks amazing and helios blue, the colour of the car for sale is one of the rarest and most sought after colours! The 2 mk1's ive had have been the best handling, most fun cars ive ever owned and ive owned a mk2 turbo and now a GT4 celica!
That mk1 is just gagging for a Mk1.5 conversion :)

Shame about the colour.... also don't think the engines going to be any use after having not turned a valve since it was made, rust will have formed on the bores, on the valves etc, no matter how dry its been stored. The second that gets started up it'll probably add about 100k of wear to it.

I love the look of the MK1 personally....

When Edd drove the one we've been working on he reckoned it is a bit light on the front.....course I don't have any car insurance, so I don't know.

When Edd drove the one we've been working on he reckoned it is a bit light on the front
I found that too, both of mine would lock up under hard braking, wet or dry, especially the first one i had that was lowered 40mm and had super stiff dampers, I used to carry a breeze block in the front boot to get weight over the front wheels!

If your still disputing the might of the Mk1, throw £2.5k at it and from a power to weight point of view, heres the kind of cars you are playing with:

1987 Nik's Mk1.5 Rev3 sleeper
Kerb weight: 1140kg
Approx output: 290.0 bhp
Power to weight:254.38 bhp/ton(metric)

1984 Ferrari Testarossa
Kerb weight: 1506 kg
Max output: 385.0 bhp
Power to weight:255.64 bhp/ton(metric)

1989 Ferrari 348tb
Kerb weight: 1390 kg
Max. output: 295.0 bhp
Power to weight:212.23 bhp/ton(metric)

1999 Ferrari 360 Modena
Kerb weight: 1390 kg
Max. output: 394.0 bhp
Power to weight:283.45 bhp/ton(metric)

1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Clubsport
Kerb weight: 1172 kg
Max. output: 231.0 bhp
Power to weight:197.1 bhp/ton(metric)

1999 Porsche 911 GT3
Kerb weight: 1350 kg
Max. output: 360.0 bhp
Power to weight:266.67 bhp/ton(metric)

2004 Porsche 911 Carrera S
Kerb weight: 1425 kg
Max. output: 350.0 bhp
Power to weight:245.61 bhp/ton(metric)

1987 Lotus Esprit Turbo
Kerb weight: 1384 kg
Max. output: 215.0 bhp
Power to weight:155.35 bhp/ton(metric)

1992 Lotus Esprit Sport 300
Kerb weight: 1187 kg

Power to weight:252.74 bhp/ton(metric)

2004 Lotus Elise 111R
Kerb weight: 860 kg

Until they got to the age when they needed their first MOT, owing to their Italian build quality and rust proofing all that was left by then was the bull bars!

Lol, i bet they drive and handle brill, but i'm glad you brought fiat up, as they look like X1/9s.

I mean look at those wheels. They look like hubcaps off a 1 litre corsa L.

Supra/celica both looked like utter whizz at a similar time.

Granted, the fron view is alright...i'd not own a 480 if it disn't, but that arse...jesus christ, and the engine cover...EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Spot the difference....
