I've downloaded Ubuntu, and am going to have a going at running dual operating systems.

- To go with my dual monitors

-And dual cores...though only 2.2ghz duos and 2gb of ram.

Dual Xeon!! Thats madness. Does compliling code take a long time? I'd only buy something like that for FE/CFD simulations i recon.

I can compile the linux kernel in around 12 minutes as I give each core a different file to compile using some gcc flags.

The only problem with the PC is the heat it pumps out, its got a 600 watt power supply and its like a little heater sat in the rack in the corner of my room

i run fedora core with beryl front end on my own personal laptop....the vista pc is for everyone really...kids, wife, dogs cats etc.

doesnt matter which flavour of linux you run.....get a nice front end like beryl though...puts vista to shame, and a fraction of the processor power needed.
like you say gaz....not many actual windows os that can beat win2k.

I used to try and keep up with IT but damn it's a boring thing and I do IT for a job  but it's the only thing that I know and it pays well.

I wish... mutter... And I don't even think it's boring. Maybe I should move north-ways. Might see a few more 480s as well :)

Beryls awesome - i love the fact i can put XP in one VMware session on one desktop, have multiple mplayers running on different desktops, a XMMS on another one and then i can rotate the screen on the cube but see everything being rendered all at the same time on every face (as the cube is semi-transparent).
