I can think of a lot of cars that would make a worse comparison, to use an understatement. Sadly I am not in the position to make a sincere comparison between the cars as I have never been inside an Airodeck... Maybe one day though But the 480 was just perfect, for the time it had it all, electricly heated seats and mirrors, info-centre, comfortable chairs and Volvo quality (which didn't seem to good on some aspects later, but that doesn't matter )

Honda makes fine cars, like volvo.
but an aerodeck isn't the only volvo design clone....
Have you ever seen a HRV jeep from behind and the side ? Isn't it a baby swedish volvo estate?

MatBat,
The '85-'87 model series Aerodeck never came with a 1.7 engine in our country and our 2.0 engine only came in 1992.
If you want to compare a '92 Aerodeck (complete different bodywork) with a '92 2.0l 480 you run into trouble again as than Honda used 2.2l engines. So I'm afraid the 2.0 - 1.7 comparison is as close as it can get. Unless Honda produced a special UK spec Aerodeck with a 1.7 lump under the bonnet

a very complete and precise answer ... as alwayslevensnevel wrote:So one could buy 4 Aerodecks for the price of 3 480's
The price difference says a lot about the difference in market/consumers that honda and Volvo aimed at. I am convinced now, it makes no sense to compare a Volvo480 and an "Aeordrag".
Mat, question for you... your chance to beat Levensnevel :
How many second hand '87 Aerodrecks can you currently buy for the price of one '87 Volvo 480?

Come to think of it, more than a decade ago I picked up following explanation through the grappevine in Born about the striking similarities between the 480 and Honda's Aerodeck.
The designcentre of Volvo in Helmond was fitted with electronically controlled doors to prevent unauthorised visitors in their 'skunkwork' department. Only such 'PIN code' protected doors are very impractical when you have to carry 50 cm scalemodels from A to B all day long. So they started to use wooden wedges to keep those doors open. That is, untill they discovered what Honda's all new Aerodeck looked like.
I don't know if the story bears any truth in it but it sounds not too far fetched ...

can anyone start a comparison between a plastic kiddy crowbar and a 480?
any ways , I hate comparisons. they are worthless. A car is personal. How can you compare personal tastes ?
This is all bases on the facts the aerodeck is also a wedge shaped car in the same time. the rest is bullox.
luck
