press pictures of the C30

Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

To avoid thread-lockage, I'll put it in here. Refreshing to hear Top Gear speak of Volvo in a slightly more positive tone :)

Drive impressions of the C30 here.

The C30 will never be as rare as the 480, an annual production of 60.000 vehicles compared with the total number of produced 480 (80.000) in 10 years!

well Daniel,
In all honesty: it remains to be seen whether or not Volvo will succeed to sell 60,000 C30's each year. If memory serves me correctly Volvo had similar optimistic productionfigures in mind when the 480 was launched.

C30? Yawn

I am hardly going to trade my 480 for one!

... but will there be a Volvo C30 Club Europe in 2020, ten years after they cease production?

New C30

Post by Rikaitch » Sat Nov 04, 2006 9:29 pm

I think I can summarise this thread in one post.

Those that dislike the C30: Yes, it looks like every other current volvo on the front end. Yes, it's boring compared to the 480. Yes, it'll never be as good as the 480. Yes, it's a lot bigger then the 480. Yes it has no charisma.

Those that like the C30: Yes, the tailgate is great. Yes, it's got an amazing options package (T5 2.5? *Swoon*).

I have to admit that I like it. I know it's far from perfect. But then again, would you dislike your 480 anymore if the headlights didn't stick occasionally, or if the boot didn't leak, or if the info centre did work each and every time?
Currently on Volvo 440 number 4, and after scrapping my first 480, I will get another one when space/money allows it.

Would be interesting to read what P1800 ES owners said about the 480 when it came out in 1986.

I just know that I'll probably never buy a Volvo again for sure not one of these C30.

Well it's not the same. 1800ES' were only about 8000 made. Most of them on American markt. 480 was planned to be a car on American market but fortunatly it wasn't. I think that when 480 was launched only few of all 1800ES left. Nowadays 480's onwers are more than 1800ES ever have been.
I don't feel that C30 is a future 480. It is launched too late. Volvo needed a compact so they made one. To me it's an interesting alternative for Civic. Both are looking quite different but I like them. Maybe some day I'll have one ;)

Ive driven the C30 today and have 2 say im a bit hooked. It was a 2.0 SE Lux £20,000 worth. Really nice car despite my initial thoughts on it. Steering sharp but heavy in a good sort of way, brakes a bit 2 good lol and its really spacious inside. its the only 1 in the north-west and i was the second person (the 1st was also a 480 driver!!!!) 2 drive it :D . I parked it next 2 mine after the test drive and its MASSIVE compared 2 the 480!!!!!!! Im going in 2 Volvo agen on Sunday 2 get some prices and get an insurance quote :?. Its not going 2 b as exclusive as the 480 but it turned loooooooooads of heads haha.
