Air con

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

Mark sometimes people like to have luxuries in their car, it makes driving more enjoyable in some cases. I don’t like having the window open when I’m doing 70 on the bypass/motorway which is the only time I use my air con, I don’t use it for very long as it does use more fuel and if the weather is like it has been for the last few days the leather interior is red hot and the fan doesn’t cool the car down because the air outside is hot, so air con comes in very handy and I’ve had no problems with it.

It cracks and splits if you don’t treat it, if you clean it with proper leather cleaner it softens it. I would consider Air con to be a luxury just getting into a sun baked car and flicking the air con on cools it in seconds.
I wear shorts in the car with no problem, it does make you sweat a little more than the half leather did but hell I prefer leather anyway, and when it is cold I just flick the seat heaters on, actually the leather warms up with the heaters much faster than the half leather did in my S

While you're talking to them, could you ask how much they'd want for the Compressor? - I think mine's on it's last legs - sometimes it sounds quite 'tractor-like' when I put the air-con on.

Air-Con (on turbo 480 at least)

PITA as it's everywhere and I can't fit anything without the bloody thing getting in the way!

I must admit though - Last weekend, I took Amy's 2 litre 460 over my turbo, because it has air conditioning...
Sat in traffic my car was blowing out hot air through the vents, and i was melting.
In hers, ice cold air with the windows shut so not breathing in as many fumes. bliss.

Her rev limiter cuts in dead on 6,000 rpm though.

That said, looking at the engine bay, sure it looks clearer than the turbo bay, but the air con pipes go across the bay above the gearbox. I really really hope she doesn't burn the clutch out any time soon!
