Non-faded rear clusters for a fiver if you want 'em!

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

Post by johnd » Wed Nov 05, 2003 12:10 pm

Ive got the l/r clusters that are not faded. They do have problems though...
The left side has had some of the top lip cracked off..I think you know the problem.... and the right has a hole in the reversing light section (about 7mm diameter). Hole went through MOT...well actually the car did!!

If anyone wants em for a fiver (a four pack of stella!) plus postage they are yours. Seems a shame to bin em....even with the problems.

*snipped* - I reread it and it sounded like I was trying to put a dampener on this sale, which I wasn't :/

Hi Martin,

I had the right one with the hole in it and Stu480 sold me two but the left one had the crack on it so I made the pair out of the two sets.

I'm sure the hole could be covered up somehow and the cracked bit trimmed or something.

As I say they have their problems but the placcy is still v.dark in colour so I didn't know if someone could do anything with them.

BTW Volvo charge £122 each....or at least they do in Sheffield Dragon.

Another option is to Polishing Compound them and then rub some motor oil (clean) into them. Gives them a new lease of life.

....from John and Stu's book of household tips!! :)

That's cool! So what did Mr Dragon say? (i guess we will never know) I already have one brand new cluster and will be buying another new one.

I just said it is probably be worth buying new ones if you were trying to get the best as it were because although expensive, it's one of those things you only need do once (hopefully) - In the context of this topic area it read as if I said "buy new ones, not these second hand ones" - which is not what I was trying to say ;(

It's OK Daz I didn't think you meant it that way. I was just pointing out some options to Martin instead of the £244 one. I even, to a certain extent, suggested not buying them with the polishing tip!!#

I would have got 'em myself as my car is in almost new condition but at the end of the day it's £240 for 2 lumps of plastic and you don't even get the centre bit. I bet that's about £70. Good 'ole Volvo!
