Wanted: Headlamp washer jets

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

Wanted: Headlamp washer jets

Post by davekit » Tue Nov 07, 2023 5:34 pm

While fixing the popup headlights, I thought it was an opportune moment to get the headlamp washers working. Problem was blocked jets, but in getting tubing off to clear them, the right hand (drivers side in UK) one broke. Not sure if they can be cleared anyway, but I'm desperate for the RHS. Ideally would like both - if not blocked! Thanks for any help.

Hey Dave. I don’t have one but hopefully you will find one as they aren’t usually something that people need so every car being broken will have two!

As you are working on the system, I’d recommend changing the splitter valve in the nose cone (which I think is a non-return too). They are still available new from your Land Rover dealer: part number DCP6656. The stuff listed on eBay for the 480 windscreen washer is just tiny and wrong.

P.S. sorry for my usual late reply to your PM. I will get back to you soon… with a request!

Hi James - thanks for info.
I can't believe these jets are so badly blocked. I've even had them in an ultrasonic bath with concentrated windscreen wash fluid. I would try back pressure on them, but it's impossible to seal over the nozzles. Looks like I will have to search out replacements.
Cheers - Dave
