Already secured a couple parts from this car that I've wanted for a while now. It's a shame to break such an early car, but it's absolutely rotten beyond belief. There's pictures of the what's left of the rear arches on the 480 UK Facebook group and it's way too far gone to realistically save. The rust extends all the way up to and around the fuel filler neck.
I think I've read somewhere on here a few times that the blue piped upholstery (which this one seems to have) is considerably rarer and more sought-after than the red piped and later multicolour velour's. I'm not interested in buying it as I already have the grey half leather in mine, but can anyone confirm that this is true or not?

IIRC the blue piping was on white (I had it in mine), silver and blue. The grey, red and black had the red piping.
I think the latter two in particular were more popular colours (the launch cars all being red had red piping) so overall I suspect more red piped interiors were produced than blue ones...

This is a model year 1988 car with a later version of the B18E engine ECU: one that uses normally available NTC sensors.
Any owner of an early B18E engined car, which has an ECU that uses unobtainium PTC sensors should take notice. The ECU of this 1988 car should be a straight swap with one in a 1986/1987 car and then it's just a matter of swapping the sensors over.

James - Chassis no. for this is 528322, so later type of B18E as suggested above. The ECU is Bendix S101290101D, so only differs from mine and yours by last character. Is this really a later type ECU? Other number on label is 436507. He says it is working so I may well buy. Dave

Robert here The change of ECU temperature sensors to NTC was at chassis no. 520281, before that PTC sensors were used. Both ECU are Fenix S 100620
What I think are corresponding numbers:

411921 and S100803 102C on the sticker, according to images of various breakers I've found online

But it's best to check the unit in your car first. Although I'm pretty sure the car that's being broken has the later (NTC) ECU.

Hi Robert - Are you sure you have the sticker numbers the right way round? The reason for asking is they do not agree with the other information I have. I have now bought the ECU from the car in Norfolk which also seems to contradict the information!

It looks to me as though the Norfolk car has possibly been changed to an early PTC unit. Is there a way of determining whether an ECU is Fenix 1 (PTC) or Fenix 3.2 (NTC) other than by the number? Is the number even reliable? Haynes says not to attach ANY test instrument to the terminals!

It doesn't make sense, E577 UEX has been registered June 1988 and serial number 528322 is way past the change of PTC to NTC sensors. It should have an NTC sensor ECU.

I tried to buy the sensors, so I could assess what was attached - but they may not have been correct either! In the end I couldn't get them, so no joy there either. Dave
