What's it doing in America tho is the question I am asking..

Although it never sold there, the 480 was intended for the American market. A lot of accessories, merchandise etc was sent over and occasionally pops up for sale.

So people bought accessories that were then useless? or was it cross compataible?

I've no idea what goes on in the average American mind !
Maybe new old stock from a Volvo dealer that hasn't done a stock take since 1987
Last year I bought a 480 silk scarf from the states, still in the original package.

Makes me wonder if some dealers were pre-ordering stuff to "jump the gun" on the arrival of the 480?

It's only a mounting bracket, useless without the matching Thule roof bars...
