Wanted - under bonnet rubber seals & other things

Now Nilani has successfully completed her first mini-meet it's time to start thinking about some more detailed needs...obviously I am well aware that a 480 is mostly made of Unobtainium, so please don't laugh at my optimism; there's nothing to lose because if you don't ask you definitely don't get!

So...has anyone got going spare the following?

The rubber seals that sit behind each headlight under the bonnet? I am missing the NS one completely and the OS is disintegrating;
Auxiliary gauges (plus sender);
Mudflaps
Unbroken passenger side door pocket
Side rubbing strip sections for the NS front and rear wings (I already have a spare for the door) ideally in 322 burgundy red metallic but any colour really, as I am happy to repaint them.

Anyone help?

David

I just came across these guys I wasn't aware of previously....

They have some 480 bits in at present. Worth a call. :)

https://www.stonesvolvospares.co.uk/

Did I read somewhere on here that the 440 or 460 mudflaps fitted...maybe? Was I dreaming?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-VOLV ... SwWsxbJiki

This guy is selling this lot cheap enough as spares...if you can make it to Southampton of course! I think you wanted the NS trim though...

have you looked at the 'Woolies' website for seals? crazy large selection and at a few quid per metre??

like these?

https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/ ... -boot-seal

I accept not 'original' but pretty close and if bonnet is closed you can't see them

It did indeed - if they didn't make it into your boot then I've probably got them. Haven't been through my bits yet but will check in due course. I believe you had first dibs on them but if you're offering them to David then I'm happy to send them his way instead (if I have them). I gave up on getting the sender out as it's on the back of the early engines, and if memory serves correctly, doesn't have the all-important bracket anyway. The sender can be purchased new in any case, so it's 'just' ( :wall: ) a case of finding a bracket. I imagine our European friends could probably help with that?

It did have gauges in and I guess you have them Will as I don't have them. I just got stuff for me, Jeff and Mister H.‎‎

Thanks everyone for piling in with offers and suggestions :D

Evie - thanks for flagging up the company in Hull; I shall get in touch with them!

Malkontent - thanks - rubbers I may source as below but the side strips could be useful. A lot will depend on cost of postage from Poland!! I will PM you...

Alan - have never encountered "Woollies" other than when I was a kid when it meant Woolworths ;). Those look as if they could be perfect for what I need so again, thanks and I shall investigate further...

Will/Jeff/James - if one of you does have the gauges and none of you is in line for them, I'd be very happy to take them off your hands if you let me have a price :D I think I might even have a spare sender, but as you say they are available new. Just the bracket to hunt down then...

Thanks again all!

David

David, as already hinted at on Cranna's thread I don't really plan to fit the oil pressure sender so there are gauges here, I think you left the wee dookit in the car if I decided not to fit the oil sender.

so there is another option for you :-)

regarding mudflaps I'm still loooking for front, but might just get 'heavy duty generics' although the C30 has a couple of sections of 3/8" rubber from a conveyor belt on fronts, only on bottom edge, not up the wing as the C30 already has 'plastic arches' to keep stones off sills, so might adopt same option??

Hi Folks,

I - think - I have about 3 sets of mudflaps.... in mostly good condition but with their mounting tabs in varying condition and probably requiring a little engineering when fixing

I do have a full set of all door mouldings off a GT, would need to check the condition, however - can't remember if the door pockets are any good from said car, if they are then happy to do a deal because I think they're a different colour from my 'good' 480's ES interior??

I simply wanted them for "stock" - The dial faces go, and whilst different to the turbo pod, the individual gauges can be transplanted quite easily.

I am trying to get reproduction dial faces made, but the first price has come at $650.... Don't know how that's split into prototyping and production yet, but it's fair to say it may be some time before reproduction sets are made!

Thanks again all.

Right....

If Jeff wanted the gauges for stock and a worthwhile sounding project, and Alan doesn't want the gauges in Nora, then the simplest seems to be if I take Alan up on his offer of returning them to me. They were my last spare set and yes, I did leave the storage cubby (or "wee dookit", which is what it shall be for evermore ;) ) in the car.

Alan - can we sort that?

Fraser - very happy to engineer the fittings on the mud-flaps (it won't be the first time  ) if you can provide a set that would be fantastic!

Could you check the GT rubbing strips for me? If they are essentially undamaged that'd be just fine - the ones on Nilani are going to need an awful lot of fettling to repair!!

Thanks again everyone!

David

David, not really a case of 'not wanting' more a case of 'not fussed'

oil pressure gauges are just a distraction . .. . .
usually Mk1 lug tells of issues at start-up :D

I'll see what Jeff says before removal, probably can do this week-end and I'll PM you

Fraser
if spare spare fronts I might be up for some, but I might go the agri route of flat conveyor belt, I'll check at week-end, but not fussed/rushed as going for 'spring 2020' as target or might wait for MoT is not until next August,

Have got some headlamp rubber seals if you need?

Consider them payback for the bolt

Thanks Jeff

Actually, they would be quite useful since I have now noticed that one of mine has condensation so replacing the seal is a good starting point... :D

I'll PM you...
