Front and Rear Light Clusters - problem solved !

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

The rear light cluster lenses are now available to order here:

https://www.volvo480.shop/categorie-pro ... ces-repro/

Pity they didn't ask me to tidy up the English ! 100 euros gets you the lens only for the centre, 352.94 is the pair of light cluster lenses, and 147.06 is the centre lens complete with frame.

Hello, it is fascinating to see the lights reproduced!
How the orders are going, is there any hint over when the clusters will be ready?
I am ready to order via https://www.volvo480.shop/categorie-pro ... ces-repro/
I have very, very poor condition of tail lights in our beloved 480: matte and cracked, so bought a scrapyard pair last month but they are not perfect also, and then I saw this post and decided to create an account and talk to you about this fascinating initiative.
I would like to give it a try with the new re-production run but I would like to know if the production will run and how the orders are coming.
I wish to replace them before winter? Is it possible? I will also not pass MoT in my country with the current state, due to how cracked ad matte they are, the current one. Best regards!

It's the French 480 club organising the lenses so you will need to ask them about availability. They have members who speak fairly good English if you dont speak French. Here's the contact form:

The French club now have the lenses or complete clusters for the front available. Just the lenses are 200 euros for right and left, complete clusters are 200 euros each. Here's the link to order again:

https://www.volvo480.shop/categorie-pro ... ces-repro/

Just be aware that now is not a good time to order anything from the EU due to all the new forms needed by customs and horror stories about goods piling up at the ports, orders going missing or being returned to sender. (We sent a parcel back to Skandix in December and got it back last week)

Pandemic allowing, we will be going to their meet in early September and happy to bring orders back with us if necessary. I'm thinking the earleist our next meet is likely to be is after theirs, so we can distribute orders then.

Just had this point confirmed by the French club.

Firstly, the 200 euro price is ONLY if you get on the early order list (requiring a 60 euro per lense deposit). Full price is expected to be 236 euros.

However, the point that even I overlooked is that this is a complete unit.

Not a lense as we would call it, but a complete lamp, minus the bulb holders. Or in real simple terms - A & B

Now if your DRL have cracked and discoloured, there's a damn fine chance its melted the mounting point too. Here's the opportunity to resolve that!

I say bloody bravo to them!

Jeez, 200 euro seems pretty good value for the whole unit. I remember buying a pair of clear clusters brand new about 2005, they were £80+ each!

The economies of scale though - I'm sure if you asked the french to build you 10,000 units you could get the price down.

Sadly, I fear no matter what you got the price down to, some people would moan about the price!

me? I'm on the waiting list!

It wasn't a moan, I was pretty impressed that a bespoke hand made low volume part for a niche car could be made for so close to the oem price 😁

Anybody know what it's like to get parcels from France?
Th rear light covers/clusters on my 480 are shot so I need to buy the French replacements (assuming they're still available).
However, I'm not sure of the state of play when it comes to importing goods from the EU.
Any advice?

Mine came through post brexit without charges.
However, I know someone who then got VAT and import duties added which almost doubled the price

I ordered quite a bit of stuff from AutoDoc the other day (Germany) and that arrived with no problems whatsoever.

I think if the courier is the same company (i.e. DHL) on both sides of the channel it helps massively.

I think Brinkie updated his EU postal experiences/rules in his instrument repair thread.

Best wishes for delivery & repair.

Thanks, Brinkie.
Having studied the information, I think I understand, now.
But, of course, I could be wrong.

I still haven't worked out the reply system for the forum.
Tried to build a reply thanking brinkie, jifflemon and jay-kay-em for their information but failed.
Can anybody tell me how to recover a 'draft' document, please?

Are you still planning to go ahead with this trip Sylvia? If so a set of rear light lenses for R3 would be great. If it’s easier you can pm me about details. Cheers Norman

We have booked to go, and we've both had 2 jabs (AZ, not made in India). It all depends on whether the French will let us in without a quarantine period. We aren't bothered about self isolating when we get back as we are retired and usually at home anyway. Needless to say, if we are allowed to travel, I'm happy to bring lenses back but they will have to be ordered in advance by whoever wants them. There is always the risk that we won't be able to travel, in which case post seems the only option.
