Wanted - Phillips DC942

Long shot I know, but I also know that lots of people have upgraded the head units in their 480s, so worth at least asking - does anyone have a working Phillips DC942 radio/cd unit that they would be happy to part with? It was the unit factory fitted in the Celebration models and I am aiming to get my new toy back to as original a state as I can :D

Thanks!

David

No, but I do have a good later Volvo branded head unit if you want it? It's not one that was fitted to 480's but is available in the accessories catalogue. I didn't fit it because it has the later font. I think it came from a 740 or 760.

I'll check it out tomorrow and get back to you. What connectors are in a Celebration?

I think I have a Volvo amplifier that has matching connections and it can also handle external equaliser and CD player via round DIN plugs

Hi James

Thank you :D ! I'd be happy to go down that route as a CR906 plus CD changer (available as accessories at the time) is the route I have gone down with the GT, where the later font fits in fine. Celebration is ISO but it's easy enough to either get an adaptor or just adapt the cables as needed. Perhaps you could let me know what you've got and what you'd want for it?

Thanks Ortovox - don't know why I didn't find that! Anyway, I have asked whether sending it to the UK is viable and will see what happens.

It is a CR-708. Unfortunately there is some damage to the side with the buttons on. Also, it says Anti-Theft which means it probably needs a code, which I have long ago lost!‎ I imagine you can buy the code online.‎

There is also an amplifier but no loom to go between the two‎ for the speakers, just the round DIN plug which does the line out parts.‎ I don't now if this is a two or four channel amplifier as the label is gone.

The wiring plug is the long thin type which would need an adapter.‎‎

So, sorry, this might not be of use at all to you. If you think you could overcome these few hurdles, then you are welcome to both just for postage.

I know someone who has recently broken a Celebration if you are still looking.

Sylvia - I'd be very grateful if you could ask them about the radio/cd, thank you!

James - I may well take those bits off your hands; I'd like to wait until Sylvia's inquiries are made though if that's ok?

All the best
