Mint 480 in auction....

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

Shall we open a book on what it sells for?

Certainly looks the part but if you look very closely I reckon there is a chunk missing out of the front spoiler.

Must say I'm tempted as my Celebration is up for MOT next week and I'm not overly confident. Was ideally looking for an automatic turbo but this one is quite a head turner. Shame ACA don't allow online bidding like some auction houses as I've no chance of getting there in person. May investigate a telephone bid.

But what to bid.........?

I reckon £600.

There's the spoiler as said, and the interior isn't original as Davey pointed out on VOC.

Most bidders won't know about that though.

I didn't realise the interior wasn't original - what's it from?

Would the original have been the somewhat "interesting" design with the coloured shapes on it?

Yeah, the GT interior is the funky one.

Davey thinks this one has a Paris Edition interior, have to say I think he's right.
Still a pretty rare interior.

I rang them on Saturday morning before the auction and I was too late to have a telephone bid but they did say I could put in a maximum commission bid. Had a think about it and said I'd be prepared to go to £1200 maximum which with fees would mean I'd pay £1272. Response was "we've already had a commission bid of £2k" so you'll have to go higher than that to stand any chance. I politely declined!

Will be interesting to see what it went for. Had a look today but they haven't yet posted the results.

My search goes on!

Holy crap!!

Sure, it was tidy, but it wasn't a concourse example.
Gotta love auction fever!

I was at the auction, with money dissolving in the banks people are getting excited and are paying over the odds.

The Volvo was not concourse but it did look honest. I didn't study the paperwork but if the mileage is genuine it will help, with a bit of work it should clean up well.

This result can only be a good thing as it sets a precedent for a good example and improves recognition of the model.

However it was a Shame it was so busy as the drivers window door seal was good, I need one of them, if anyone has a good one let me know.

Also If you get bored check out the usual web sites over the next few weeks and see how much the dealers mark them up.

If the new owner gets around to this site, enjoy it and good luck.

Regards
