WANTED: Piece of seatbelt arm

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

WANTED: Piece of seatbelt arm

Post by jamescarruthers » Thu Apr 02, 2015 6:40 pm

By reckoning there should be hundreds of these out there as the seatbelt arms break but the end piece with a roller that carries the belt often gets replaced too!

I have two of these but no roller in them as they're both a bit loose and let the roller go:

Does anyone have one or two that they can part with, including the rollers, please?

They go here:

I must be the only owner with intact arms but no guides for the belts at the end!

That arm looks broken to me, the end where the end piece would connect to is missing a part...

Nope, this is an 87 ES and the design was different. Instead of being a barbed, push fit, the early ones go in at 90 degrees then lock in their usual position.

I can see why they chamged the design as it is easy to accidentally knock the belt carrier off.

Well spotted on the differences though mate!

Brilliant, thanks. I'll ask if they can make the part I'm missing along with two rollers too.

Thanks Robert!

If we're being geeky, then I have noticed the following on the early cars:
  • Wheels are 0.5in wider (6J instead of 5.5J)
    Seatbelt buckles are slightly different
    Handbrake lever is slightly different
Bottom two bars of info centre are red
Info centre selector "units" button is a push button (instead of a pin hole)
Tachometer is x100 instead of x1000 RPM
    Under-bonnet light is installed
Steering wheel is a lighter grey (looks wrong in my opinion)
Fog-light indicators in instrument clusters are both orange

Most easily noticable differences are indeed on the instrument cluster.

Also there are some minor differences with the phase 2 (my91 and up) Like the little grill on the side panels in the bootspace. They differ in size.

Got some today. Driving back from Oxford to Cambridge and passed Lakes Volvo by chance on the A1. They had two in a J-reg black 480 that must have arrived in the last few months or so.
